The forecast for today is 42°c. For those of you who like the 'F' word, that's 107.6°f. It's 14:15 and it's already 39°c.

I'm almost happy to be at work but only because of air conditioning. It's such a pity about the actual 'work' part of work. Yeah, I'm lazy. Lots of people are taking a half day today, something about it being the end of the year, so it's actually pretty quiet.

The worst thing about today, without a doubt, is having to drive in to work. My car doesn't have air conditioning. Well, it does but it stopped working three summers ago and I've never had it fixed. Did I mention I was lazy?

This morning I had an almost 'YKYMWTMSW...' moment when I was listening to Mean Girls by Sugarland (not the actual video clip for the song) and the beginning of it made me think of Jensen Ackles.

Not that I think Jensen is a 'mean girl' or any kind of girl for that matter. And it didn't make me think of Supernatural!Ackles or DarkAngel!Ackles or even DOOL!Ackles... well, yeah, maybe a little about DOOL!Ackles... but mostly it made me think of this Ackles:

Cheerleader!Ackles.

The end.

  1. Get my Storm Tattoo - I think I've finally decided on this, to go on my shoulder. There is, however, still 2 hours and 30 minutes before my appointment so that's plenty of time to change my mind. DONE!!!

  2. Make Christmas Cards - I've really got to get moving on this one, especially the overseas ones. They've got a big ocean to cross, ya know, and it takes a long long time. *nods*

  3. Create something for [livejournal.com profile] ssstevie's "This is Your Life, Dean" project. - I'm thinking, I'm thinking, I'm thinking...

  4. Christmas shopping - I still need to get something for Mum, Dad, Grandma, Jenny, Michael, Samantha, Nicholas, Andrew, Lisa, Adelaide, Eloise, Laura, Emily... oh, heck, I still need to get SOMETHING for EVERYONE. Why couldn't I have started shopping earlier? There are only 17 shopping days to go, right? *gulp*

  5. Start / Finish making a few surprise Christmas presents. - Sssshhh, it's a secret.

Okay, so now I've listed everything it doesn't seem like that much. Really...

  1. I've had a busy and down right crappy week at work which goes a long way to explaining the lack of journal postage this week. You know, it's been one of those weeks where everything everyone does kind of pisses you off because everything everyone does is kind of stoopid? Yeah, okay, so I'm being a grouch. I really would love to be Little Miss Sunshine ALL the time. But, yeah, that's just not me.

  2. Yesterday, I signed up for missing_spn. I have this idea in my head about what it is I want to do, and now, I've just got to figure out how to do it. The challenge ends October 3, so I have a little under a month to get my shit together. *is nervous* Damn, my momentary lapses of sanity. *g*

  3. Hey, that means it's also less than a month to the Season 3 premiere. Are we all excited? The first episode stills have been released here. Yeah, I took a little peek. So much for being 'Spoiler Free in Season 3', 'eh?

  4. Steve Carlson wants me at his gig, in LA, again this Saturday night. I really hate having to turn him down all the time... *sighs* Whilst on the subject of Steve Carlson, those KANE CDs I got last week, TOTALLY rock. Especially the Live album.

  5. 'Hairspray' starts here next week. Should I go see it? YES/NO

  6. I'm about two-thirds of the way through SUPERNATURAL: Nevermore, and, oooh boy, do I have questions. At the moment the book looks like one of my text books from school. It has random Post-Its stuck to pages where I've had serious WTF! moments, and to be fair, even a few FTW!, moments. I'll be finished with it tomorrow so hopefully I'll be able to put some coherent words together about it.

  7. I had my hair cut tonight. Seriously chopped. I've had about two inches off and I now have little bangs. *gulp* I haven't had bangs for about three years. Not sure about it yet but I'll hold judgement until I've washed it and styled it myself.

  8. Friday tomorrow \o/

I was just about to head out to get some lunch when, as I usually do, I checked the Bureau of Meteorology for the current temperature in Melbourne. You know, so I can dress appropriately and not freeze my ass off.

And OMGWTFBLT! It says it's 24.4c (75.92F) outside!!!

BUT it's still Winter... Isn't it? Did we skip spring and head right on into Summer?

Woot!

( Aug. 22nd, 2007 10:07 am)
Everything has returned to normal today. I got up 'normal' time. I got to work 'normal' time. My head is feeling 'normal'. It's a 'normal' day which, besides being 'normal', is awesome.

As they say in the classics, "... don't mess with the flow, no, no. Stick to the status quo..."

My drive into work this morning was 'normal' also. No sightings of cutesy company names or huge-ass cardboard cut-outs of movie/book characters in people's front windows. Boringly normal.

However, at a bus stop near Sunnydale Burwood Cemetery, I did spy a large promo poster for Californication starring David Duchovny, which starts here next Monday. Back in the early days of X-Files I had such a crush on him. And, damn it, if this poster didn't remind me exactly why. *sigh*

3). Why aren't LiveJournal sending out email notifications when someone comments to one of my posts? *stoopid LJ* The really stoopid thing is, when I reply to someone else's post in their LJ I get an email notification immediately.

4). On the way to work today, I pulled up next to a delivery van with the name "TEXAS FLOWER 'RANGERS" on the side. Someone thought they were being cute when they came up with that name, eh? *face palm* And yes, it's a real company.

5). I was watching Hannah Montana (yeah, so? I like it...) on Disney Channel last night and I saw a promo for High School Musical 2 featuring the little ditty, School's Out. The cutesy boys and girls are back in town!!! Whoo hoo! I now know, the Aussie premiere of High School Musical 2 is on the 22nd of September. Only 33 sleeps to go...

6). Back to work, I go...
A short long MEME I picked up from [livejournal.com profile] munibunny's journal.

Wanna read it? Clicky here... )
1). I'm in the middle of making a batch of Waffles to take into work tomorrow. Things have been a bit hectic around the place as of late, with people away sick and on courses, so this is an attempt of sorts to boost morale. We occasionally buy Waffles from the Belgium Waffle stand in Flinders Street Station or Degraves Street but I decided to make some this time. We can just pop them in the toaster, slather on a bit of Nutella or sprinkle some icing (powdered) sugar on, and Bobs your Uncle.

2). I've just finished watching the pilot episode of David Duchovny's new series, Californication. I really enjoyed it. Not sure I'll be tuning in each week but it has the potential to amuse me. One thing I couldn't get over was seeing 'little Gracie' from The Nanny in it! OMG! She's all grown up. *L* And David Duchovny, is... David Duchovny. I think that guy just plays himself in whatever he's in. Bless him.

3). And now I'm indulging in a retro viewing of All Hell Breaks Loose Part Two.
Ten Reasons why this Episode still Rocks My World... )

4). Yesterday, I got another reminder from Steve Carlson about his show in L.A. on Wednesday night. Persistent little bugger, ain't he? Didn't he read my last post about having to pass on this one? *roll eyes* LOL.

5). Melbourne Storm play at home tonight. I think it's the second last home game of the season. Then, the FINAL series starts in three weeks time and our first final is a guaranteed home final as we are currently sitting in on top of the NRL Ladder and we can't finish lower than second place. Unfortunately, we haven't been playing our best footy this past month or so. Isn't it always the way? We were blitzing the competition for the best part of the year and then we get to the business end of the season and , pffftt, we start playing like pebos.
ETA: For [profile] ssstevie's benefit, Melbourne Storm are a Rugby League team! Ssssshhh, Stevie! Why didn't you know that??? Duh! *wink*

6). Waffles are finished and there are now dishes to be done.

Happy Friday or Thursday, depending on where you are on this little planet of ours.
( Jul. 6th, 2007 02:44 pm)

I'm wet and I'm cold and I've just walked a few city blocks in the rain - which totally explains the coldness and wetness - to pick up my Supernatural #3 and Buffy V comics, which were delayed yesterday due to some US holiday or something *g* only to find that they didn't have Buffy in yet. But they did have Supernatural so my discomfort hasn't totally been in vain.

* Whingey post motivated entirely by my desire to use my new icon (made by

[personal profile] trileaderroses) taken from the Season 3 Premiere of Plastic!Winchester Theater

  1. Adelaide, Sam and Nick stayed over last night. Good times were had be all. Bed time was approximately 22:30. Not too bad.

  2. The third State of Origin was played last night. Queensland had already won the series, 2-0, so really it was just a chance for either:
a). Queensland to humiliate New South Wales with a white-wash, or
b).New South Wales to regain a bit of pride.
Unfortunately, it ended up being the latter with NSW winning 18-4.
Melbourne Storm's Dallas Johnson & Greg Inglis were both taken from the field injured and given that I'm a big believer in 'These things happen in threes' I really feared for the safety and well being of the other Storm players out there. I wonder if Storm Coach Craig Bellamy made any frantic phone calls the QLD & NSW coaches in an attempt to get Cameron Smith, Ryan Hoffman & Matt King pulled out of the game... I think I would have. Luckily, they all survived unscathed.

  3. So, the season finale of Heroes was shown in Australia last night. It clashed with Origin so I taped Heroes preferring to watch Origin 'live'. Kids in bed - finally - and Origin over for another year we sat down to watch it and things looked pretty good for all of about 10 minutes. Unfortunately Heroes never returned after the ad break. WTF? Someone must have accidentally changed the Foxtel (cable) channel whilst it was recording and I'd ended up taping a repeat of Malcolm in the Middle. Doh! Time to thank Mr./Mrs./Miss Torrent - again - for making it possible to download everything and anything from the 'net.  Thank you.

  4. When did petrol reach $1.34 per litre???

Luckily I don't think I need to go find a crossroad demon just yet.

These little miniature cars are released each year for all the clubs in the NRL. This little Mini Cooper was from a few years back. 2004, I think. In other years we've seen a Land Cruiser, a Rav4, some sporty little Nissan, etc...

They are nice.
They are cute.
They are not being made anymore!

( Jul. 2nd, 2007 08:40 pm)

okay. Back from the premiere screening of Ian Thorpe's doco - Fish Out of Water. Celebrity spotting was a bit of a bust... unless you include Ian Thorpe, of course. That bloke has seriously big arms and chest and legs but I guess you get that if you've spent most of your life like a fish in water. How he gets clothes of the rack to fit him is beyond me.

The documentary was very good. It's all about climate change and how it is and will affect Australia and in turn how we are causing Climate Change. It really does highlight if we don't all start doing something now things are going to look pretty grim in the years to come. I mean, we are already in the middle of a serious drought. And then we have all these freakish floods. Not cool. What's next?

  1. Happy Supernatural Day (Aus.) It’s the season 2 finale tonight and it feels like it’s been a long time coming. Of course, I’ve already seen it but you know, still exciting. I really hope little Sammy is going to be okay *sob* Unfortunately I may not be able to see it ‘live’ because…

  2. …Tonight I’m going to a VIP Premiere screening of a new documentary Ian Thorpe is presenting. It’s not what you know, people, it’s who you know! I can see some serious celebrity spotting in my immediate future.

  3. Today marks the starting date for the ‘My Dinner with Joss’ auction. Check out the self-pimping the man has done for this:

First of all, why the auction? Because I believe the chance to sit next to me, with my distinctive yet unsettling odor, will cause people to give Equality now Eleventy Kabillion Dollars.

Has he no shame! *grin* If only I had Eleventy Kabillion Dollars to bid…

  4. On Saturday I helped Emma and Dan move into their new home. They’ve done great and despite the fact that the house is, in fact, located on the Dark Side [of Melbourne] (read: The ‘other’ side of the Yarra) it is in a lovely green, leafy and very, very hilly area.

  5. I drove to work today and it only took me 50 minutes!.Usually it takes 1+ hours. There was just no traffic. I spent the first half of the trip thinking “Where’s all the peoples?” as it only occurred to me while I was passing Sunnydale Cemetery (aka. Burwood Cemetery - It reminds me of Sunnydale Cemetary, is all) that it's school holidays *facepalm* Yay for the term two holidays.

  6. I think I’ve discovered a new television show to fill at least part of the void over the summer winter while Supernatural is on hiatus. It’s not so much a new show being that it’s already racked up three seasons but up until last night I had not seen a single episode. Whatcha talkin’ ‘bout, Willis?

HOUSE M.D. is what I'm talkin' 'bout.

  7. Happy Monday.

Why is it I only think to update this thing on Friday? It's not as if it's the only day anything happens. I've come to the conclusion that blogging really is a habit you need to develop. Any topic or event can be blogged it's just a matter of remembering to do it.

A couple of cool links courtesy of Andrew:

Win a dinner with Joss Whedon! - If only. This would be such an awesome experience. Of course, I wouldn't be able form any coherent sentences words within his presence so my end of the conversation would be extremely lacking. But three hours listening to this man just talk would be like nothing else. The auction starts on Monday and proceeds go to the charity Equality Now. I'm thinking Equality Now will get quite a nice pile of cashy money as a result of this.

Goonies of the Caribbean (Link to YouTube) - It's fantabulously freaky how well these two movies seem to fit together. Extremely clever editing.

  1. After four days of using public transport (Grrr Argh!) this week I thought I’d treat myself and drive into work this morning. The traffic flowed well until City Road and despite the *rock music plays* sticker on the back of my car I zoomed along listening to country music. Great start to the day!

  2. Looking for country music to listen to in the car this morning highlighted a major oversight on my part. I have very little country on my MP3 player. What's doing there? Sure I have some Keith Urban, a little Dixie Chicks and a Steve Carlson album but no Garth Brooks, no Montgomery Gentry, no Toby Keith, no Billy Ray Cyrus... Looks like I've got some CD ripping to do over the weekend.

  3. Not sure where this came from but in the shower this morning I was thinking if there was a disruption to the space-time continuum and I was transported back to a previous year, what year would I like to re-visit? I decided on 2002. I liked 2002.

  4. It's been so chilly this week. Today I have four layers on in an attmpt to keep warm at the office. It's casual day, as it is every Friday, which usually means a Storm tee-shirt and jacket. However, today I decided to skip the Storm tee and went with my happy shirt instead - my green "No Chick Flick Moments". How can I not be happy wearing Dean & Sammy?

  5. After an extremely bad air day yesterday my hair actually cooperated with me this morning. Awesome.

  6. Cheese Supreme Doritos really are the best snack food.

  7. Happy Friday y'all. Tomorrow it's the weekend!

  1. I finally got my 'new' phone back from the repair shop today. It's been in to be fixed a total of three times and this time it looks like they may have actually repaired it. *crosses fingers... and toes*

  2. The episode of Supernatural on Channel Ten last night was “What is and What Should Never Be”. This was THE episode I'd been looking forward to since I first read spoilers way back in February and I was beyond excited when I got to see it right after it aired in the States a month or two back. Since then I must have re-watched it a gazillion times and yet I still watched it last night, on TV, complete with ads.

In fact, making sure I watch it 'live' is the only way I can justify to myself that it's okay to download the episodes via the ‘net before they air here. I feel guilty if I don't tune in to watch it on TV locally even if I know I don't have a little black box recording my viewing habits and helping out those ratings. I still like to think I'm still doing my bit, ya know. It's also nice to know that there are a whole bunch of people out there enjoying exactly the same thing that I am at exactly the same time. Yeah, okay that's kind of geeky. Huh!

Today's my first day back at work after a week off. It's been tough going, let me tell you. While I didn't do a whole heap in the first half of the week , the last 3.5 days I spent kidsitting my niece and nephew while their parents were away. Now I come to think about it, the kidsitting was a lot more work then my actual work. Perhaps I should look at this week as the 'holiday'.

Congratulations Andrew and Lisa - Thanks for my brand new niece.

Eloise Clare
was born during the wee hours of the morning on Saturday 26th May.

And shame on me. It's taken me five whole days to blog about it.

My 'AUNTY' Tally*:
Nieces: 5
Nephews: 1
* Does not include my 'Aunty Tristo' Tally.

1). The Station Formerly Known As Spencer Street is kind of scary. OKAY, it's small and doesn't have that many platforms or trains but it also doesn't haven't many signs. I had no idea where I was going Thursday night. Give me Penn Station in New York anytime! (What? Gratuitous place name dropping? Never!)

2).Also. Is Spencer Street the only train station in metropolitan Melbourne that does not have Pepsi vending machines? WTF! The distinct lack of Pepsi Max was not a good start to the weekend.

3). The new Albury bypass on the Hume Highway totally rocks. It must cut at least 20 minutes off the journey between Melbourne & Sydney. At least.

4). When driving through Sydney, if in doubt, stick to the middle lane. Especially when trying to find your way into the harbour tunnel.

5). Sydney road signage kinda sucks and their left lanes have a terrible habit of 'disappearing'. And don't even get me started on the buses and taxi drivers.

6). Warringah Mall in Manly is a terrific shopping centre but it's car park most definitely sucks. The only* time we got lost on the weekend was trying to get out of that car park.
*The only time whilst Caz or I were driving/navigating.

7). You never know who you'll see when shopping at the above mentioned shopping centre. I am convinced I saw Anne Looby who played Anna Lacey on A Country Practice. Awesome! *goes off in search of old ACP video tapes*

8). Brookvale Oval is the BEST. GROUND. EVER. The atmosphere is wonderful and their supporters are amongst the best behaved and friendliest. The fact that Storm cannot seem to win at the ground is neither here nor there. I am going to every Storm game at Brooky until we finally win one. I'm sure we will... one day...

9). Steve Bell still remembers us.

10). Ribs and Rumps in Manly do a great steak. My choice: Rump. Blue. Yum.

11). It is possible to get three yellow Clinkers in a row. Who knew?

12). I am a nuffer. On the way back from Sydney today, I posted an 'on the road' voice post when we stopped in Gundagai. For some reason I hadn't ticked the 'Disable Auto-Transcription' box in the voice post settings last time I visited so not only was the voice post posted but so was a transcription. And the transcription was so terrible I tried to delete it. Sadly, in the process I somehow managed to delete the entire post. PFFFTT! Voice Post - GONE! I don't believe there is a way to retrieve it however I did manage to salvage the auto-transcription that I was trying to get rid of in the first place. *roll eyes*

1).  Game One in this year's State of Origin series is being played in Brisbane tonight. Queensland v. New South Wales. It's LIVE on channel 9 into Melbourne which somewhat of a major breakthrough for Rugby League in this State.

2).  XP is still going great at work. Everything is so much faster now and I LOVE having the newer version of Outlook. I use GMAIL exclusively at home so I'd had no experience with Outlook 2003 at all. It's really nice.

3).  XP BONUS: For Christmas Sam and Nick gave me a Winnie the Pooh USB mouse. I could never use it at work because it was USB and it didn't work on NT. It's more then likely I could have found a driver for it but anyway. Today I remembered to take it into work and now I have a Winnie the Pooh Optical Mouse working perfectly. the size is going to take a bit to get used to. I think it's designed for children. Wonder why? Love it none the less and it's got a really cool LED blue glow.

4). I've only got another day and a half of work this week. I'm off to Sydney this weekend for the Manly v Storm game at Brookevale Oval.
