1). Melbourne Storm won on Friday night. Two games left in the regular season and Storm are still sitting pretty on top of the ladder. The only team who can take the Minor Premiership (first place) away from us is Manly, who are currently two games behind us but they play tonight so the gap may close to one. I am absolutely really quite slightly confident that we will hang on.
2). Yesterday I went with Mum, Dad and Grandma to visit Andrew, Lisa, Adelaide and Eloise (my brother and his family). I hadn't seen Eloise since she was just two days old. She's now 12 weeks old, so it was great seeing her again but she didn't seem to remember me...*L* Adelaide was excited to have us there, and if she'd had her way we would still be there now, in the frontyard, playing cricket.
3). Why aren't LiveJournal sending out email notifications when someone comments to one of my posts? *stoopid LJ* The really stoopid thing is, when I reply to someone else's post in their LJ I get an email notification immediately.
4). On the way to work today, I pulled up next to a delivery van with the name "TEXAS FLOWER 'RANGERS" on the side. Someone thought they were being cute when they came up with that name, eh? *face palm* And yes, it's a real company.
5). I was watching Hannah Montana (yeah, so? I like it...) on Disney Channel last night and I saw a promo for High School Musical 2 featuring the little ditty, School's Out. The cutesy boys and girls are back in town!!! Whoo hoo! I now know, the Aussie premiere of High School Musical 2 is on the 22nd of September. Only 33 sleeps to go...
6). Back to work, I go...

My girls LOVED High School Musical 2 and they just break into song at random times. *g* It was pretty good (you know, putting it into perspective).
btw, Hannah Montana is funny! We all stop to watch it when it's on.

The first High School Musical was pretty cheesy, and I'm expecting nothing less from the sequel. HeeHee! HSM1 was just a sweet, almost innocent little film. It's nice to hear that your girls loved the new one. I'm guessing the tunes are just as catchy. I get the HSM1 songs stuck in my head but luckily I haven't burst into song yet. Seriously, I wouldn't want to subject ANYONE to my attempts at singing. *g*
I'm so happy to hear I'm not the only one who likes Hannah Montana!
(*whispers* Just between you and me, I kind of like seeing Billy Ray Cyrus in it too. Not that I own a Billy Ray CD, or two, or three... *head desk* I just admitted to once being a fan, didn't I? Of course, I don't listen to them anymore... much. *g* Once you get past the whole Achy Breaky Heart thing, he really isn't too bad...)

That's two minor premierships on the trot!
I'll be there looking down with a lot of pride in the boys when they present the J.J. Gitnan shield after the Titans game in two weeks.

We play the Bulldogs this week, a game I'm never confident going into. The Titans, at home, shouldn't be a problem though, and we have 36 points for/against up our sleeves. So yeah, two Minor Premierships in a row... Sweet!
And then, the fun of the finals starts.
First week a Home Ground Final.
Second week, a week off. *fingers crossed*
Third week, a Home Town Final. *fingers crossed*
Forth week, The Big One! *fingers crossed*
I've said pretty much all year, that if we make it to the Grand Final, we'll win it. The boys won't let it play out like last year.
Do you go to all the Storm games in Melbourne?

I've got two seats in the Lazarus Stand (row A near the 20 metre line at the Yarra end) and usually go alone but sometimes bring a friend. I like to stretch out a bit. :-)
Besides, those seats are just so confined. They were designed for people 50 years ago that were not nearly as tall or wide. I'll be pleased when the new stadium eventually gets built, though I'd have been just as happy if they were to rebuild the existing stadium with more legroom and elbow room, and some extra stands.
I've already got my GF tickets and airfares booked and will be staying at my mum's place in Sydney. Fingers crossed :)

I sit in the Nikau Stand at the Swan Street end. We have reserved area seats, for the same reason that we like to spread out. The seats are crazy small and in some rows there is little to none leg room. For the 1998, 1999, and 2000 seasons, I sat in the Western Stand, between the races. When we moved to Colonial in 2001, I got a Gold or Silver membership but only ever sat in my seat once! The rest of the time I sat in GA with the group of friends I sit with to this day. When we moved back to OP, because the majority of our group used to sit in the Eastern Stand, we ended up there.
You are confident about the Grand Final! Will you go even if Storm don't make it? (okay, going to wash my mouth out with soap now...) We decided to wait again this year and line up on the Monday they go on sale so we can all sit together. There has only been one year in which we purchased tickets as soon as they went on sale... And that was 1999. We were actually talking about it on Friday night. Out of the group of friends I go with now, we all had tickets early that year, yet, only a few of us knew each other back then. There must have been something in the air that year, that told us all to go get 'em.

I haven't followed the storm for that long (this is my second year). I grew up in Sydney and knew the game but never had an interest in it until long after I moved to Melbourne. I'm 6'5" and when I had a reserved seat in the eastern stand up the swan street end during the parra home final last September, I literally couldn't fit into it. It was just horrid. My payday just didn't line up with the day members could buy their own seat for the home final so I ended up pretty much diagonally opposite where I usually sit.
I've never been to a GF before and grew up hearing stories about what it meant to people. Even if the storm don't make it *touch wood* I'll go.
I probably should have heeded the advice from people who say legroom isn't an issue at Stadium Australia, but I made the point to the guy at the ticketek kiosk, and he found me a pair of front row seats near the southern tryline, just next to the tunnel. Front row and the rows behind a crosswalk aisle always have more leg room.
I wanted to go last year but simply didn't have the cash. This year I've emptied my savings account and just took the plunge. It's all planned out.
I step out the door at 11.15am and stroll up to the Moonee Ponds bus interchange. I'll get the 478 bus at 11.30am which arrives at Melbourne Airport as 12pm. My flight leaves at 1pm and it lands at 2.20pm. I'll get the 400 bus at 2.50pm arriving Rockdale at 3.07. The train leaves at 3.14pm to Sutherland, arriving at 3.36pm, which will connect with the 3.42pm bus to Bangor (else I'll have to get a $12 taxi into Bangor or a lift). I will then dump my overnight bag at mum's place, maybe make a quick stopover at the Bangor Tavern at 4.30pm-ish, maybe have one drink, and will then get the ORTA bus straight to the stadium from Bangor Shops. I hope to arrive at the ground at around 5.30-6.00pm for the 7pm start.
Since PT in Sydney on that day is free with a GF ticket except for the privately run buses (eg: Sutherland to Bangor is $2.90), and the Airport railway has something like a $10 gate fee (which can be avoided thanks to the 400 bus service), it's all covered except for a Zone 1/2 Metcard for the bus from Moonee Ponds, and $2.90 for the bus fare in Sydney.
Damn, that was a mouthful.

Last year, it wasn't much fun being there, let me tell you. And I still haven't been able to bring myself to watch a replay of it. Bloody Simpkins!!! lol.
That's kind of funny that you never had any interest in Sydney, yet, once you moved to Melbourne you did. I've lived in Melbourne all my life and I get asked so often if I grew up in Sydney due to the fact that I love Rugby League. I have no interest in AFL, what-so-ever.
Whoa! Being that tall, I can imagine you would have trouble sitting in the Eastern. I'm think I'm of average height, and I have trouble. Some rows do have more room than others.
