1. I picked up my glasses on Saturday and I've been wearing them pretty much ever since. It's amazing what a difference they make.

I can't believe I never realised things didn't look like they should. Every now and then I take them off and look at the computer screen or the words on a page and the letters are all blurry and very faint and I wonder how I ever managed to read anything.

Funny thing is, thinking back, I haven't read a great number of books for a few years now. I've never been a huge reader of books but in the past few years I've read even less. I've put it down to having other things to read such as, oh lets say fanfic shall we, but I'm thinking I may have unconsciously avoided reading books because it got a bit too hard. Just maybe.

  2. As a kind of road test for my glasses, I read 'The Outsiders' by S.E. Hinton. I'd forgotten what a great little book that is and how much it makes me cry. I cried like a baby. Like a hungry, angry baby.

The only problem was, my copy is secondhand and in very poor condition. I picked it up for only a $1 so I can't complain too much but if anyone has scans of pages 9-12 and pages 87-90 handy, I'd be eternally grateful. *wink* Why do people have to tear pages out of books?

The book made me think of Dean and Sam and I think that was the reason why I kept picturing a young Jared Padalecki as Ponyboy. Lets hope Padalecki never takes a liking to hair grease because in my mind he didn't look all that great greased up. ;) Thanks to the movie adaptation, I saw Rob Lowe and Patrick Swayze as Sodapop and Darry, and Johnny was still the Karate Kid. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't fit Jensen into the story but Jared was definitely there.

  3. My J&J single arrived in the mail today! \O/
It's a pity I listened to it so many times when I downloaded it last weekend that I'm all crazy love'd out.

  4. Melbourne Storm won their second game of the season on Friday night. We are 2 from 4 and sitting at sixth place on the ladder.

  5. I had more stuff to write but I've forgotten what.

  6. Oooh, Jensen in 3D. \O/ I refuse to think about how dodgy the movie could end up being ;)

1. Those look really nice. You probably didn't realize things weren't looking as they should because it happened gradually.

2. They had a TV show based on that book when I was a kid.

3. Mine came yesterday, too. I've replaced my download with the legal version and feel all righteous.

4. Yay!

5. Bummer.

6. I don't know that I'll make to that movie. I can't do the slash flicks.

It'll be interesting when I go back in 12 months time to see how much by vision has changed because at the moment I have no idea of knowing just how slow/fast it happened.

A TV show based on The Outsiders would be great. I remember the movie but don't recall a tv show at all.

Hehehe. Me too! Do you think the legitimate copy sounds different? *wink*

Yay! Finally another win for us.

I still can't remember what I wanted to write. Couldn't have been all that good.

That's a shame that not even the prospect of seeing Jensen all huge and in 3D could get you there!
You calling it a 'slash' flick rather than a slasher fick had me giggling (what this fandom has done to my brain!), however, I wasn't going to mention it but I see [livejournal.com profile] raputathebuta already did. :D *g*

Yeah, Rap, she's so helpful like that.

I'm glad I could make you both laugh, even inadvertantly.

*facepalm*
