Hey, Tuesday. Pig 'n a Poke!

1. I picked up my glasses on Saturday and I've been wearing them pretty much ever since. It's amazing what a difference they make.
   
   
   
   I can't believe I never realised things didn't look like they should. Every now and then I take them off and look at the computer screen or the words on a page and the letters are all blurry and very faint and I wonder how I ever managed to read anything.
   
   Funny thing is, thinking back, I haven't read a great number of books for a few years now. I've never been a huge reader of books but in the past few years I've read even less. I've put it down to having other things to read such as, oh lets say fanfic shall we, but I'm thinking I may have unconsciously avoided reading books because it got a bit too hard. Just maybe.
   
   
   
2. As a kind of road test for my glasses, I read 'The Outsiders' by S.E. Hinton. I'd forgotten what a great little book that is and how much it makes me cry. I cried like a baby. Like a hungry, angry baby.
   
   The only problem was, my copy is secondhand and in very poor condition. I picked it up for only a $1 so I can't complain too much but if anyone has scans of pages 9-12 and pages 87-90 handy, I'd be eternally grateful. *wink* Why do people have to tear pages out of books?
   
   The book made me think of Dean and Sam and I think that was the reason why I kept picturing a young Jared Padalecki as Ponyboy. Lets hope Padalecki never takes a liking to hair grease because in my mind he didn't look all that great greased up. ;) Thanks to the movie adaptation, I saw Rob Lowe and Patrick Swayze as Sodapop and Darry, and Johnny was still the Karate Kid. No matter how hard I tried I couldn't fit Jensen into the story but Jared was definitely there.
   
   
   
3. My J&J single arrived in the mail today! \O/
   It's a pity I listened to it so many times when I downloaded it last weekend that I'm all crazy love'd out.
   
   
   
   
   
4. Melbourne Storm won their second game of the season on Friday night. We are 2 from 4 and sitting at sixth place on the ladder.
   
   
5. I had more stuff to write but I've forgotten what.
   
   
6. Oooh, Jensen in 3D. \O/ I refuse to think about how dodgy the movie could end up being ;)

2. I LOVE The Outsiders! That's one of my all-time favorite books & I adore the movie. So if Jared is Ponyboy, I totally think that makes Jensen Sodapop. That movie had some serious Pretty in it. I loved Swayze as Darry...he was perfectly cast, as was Matt Dillon as Dallas. Oh GOD! Now I want to watch that again!!!!!!!!

6. Jensen in 3D makes me think dirty thoughts! I love the original My Bloody Valentine (it's CHEESETASTIC!) & I have faith that Jensen chose to do the remake/reimagining because it's good. Hopefully, it won't end up being like Devour & being edited all to shit (even though it's got it's good parts!). I'm hoping that's why Jared is doing the Friday the 13th remake. *crosses fingers* I'll see both even if they turn out to not be so great.

I'd forgotten how much I love The Outsiders (the book) and it's been such a long time since I've seen the movie. I'm going to have to look out for the DVD now. :) I think you're right, Jensen would be Sodapop. But while I was reading I just couldn't get Rob Lowe out of my head. I was trying to think this morning who played Dallas - Matt Dillion! Of course. Definitely need to see the movie soon. And Emilio Estevez was Two Bit. :)

The single will never be my most favourite song in the world but it's still great to hear Jensen singing. :)

Storm finally showed a bit of form on Friday night...'m just hoping they can repeat it this Friday too.

I haven't seen the original My Bloody Valentine. Perhaps I should look out for that when I'm looking for The Outsiders. I'm so happy to hear you think Devour has it's good parts! I don't mind the movie at all. I hate the ending, but I actually liked most of it. If I could book tickets for Jensen and Jared's movies now, I would! ;)

Jason must live right next door to a post office! It's only been a week since I ordered it. I was expecting it arrive in about a month so it was a pleasant surprise :)

Things are SO much clearer now. I can still see/drive/read,etc., without them but besides when I need to wear my sunglasses, I usually just leave them on all the time.

1. Those look really nice. You probably didn't realize things weren't looking as they should because it happened gradually.

The single came a lot faster than I thought it would. I wasn't even sure they would post to Australia.

Hopefully Storm will continue with their form from last Friday. This Friday night we play the team we beat in the Grand Final last year. It'll be a tough game.

The glasses make me look like not!me. It's kind of strange because it just so happened I had an appointment to get my haircut on Saturday too so I ended up with new glasses and a new haircut so I look completely different. *lol*

Unfortunately, I think Jared is a bit old to play Ponyboy these days but, yeah, as a youngin he would have been brilliant. The first part I'm missing is some of the introduction of the characters which is a shamne. But the second part was when Johnny was in hospital and I think it's the scene where Ponyboy first goes to see Johnny after the fire. I was bit upset that part was missing. :(

If there is a plot which needs to be followed in Jensen's movie, I think I may have to see it twice because the first time I'm not going to be paying much attention to anything but the pretty. Boy, I'm so shallow... *grin*

I read a bunch of S.E. Hinton books one summer, and it seemed that all of them had been made into movies starring Matt Dillon. :) What I remember about the movie of The Outsiders is that almost everyone in it became hugely famous later. Francis Ford Coppola knew how to pick a cast, I guess.

I got my J&J single, too! That was fast! The weird thing was it said the song was called Marmalade, by someone I'd never heard of. I had to go into iTunes and change all the info. I'm such a goody two shoes, I was totally relieved to have a legal copy. *is a dork*
