Winnie is back home after her operation. I picked her up about three hours ago. The operation went fine and she is doing OK.

She has one of those plastic collars on to stop her from licking and chewing her stitches. She doesn't like the bucket at all and really, who can blame her? It took her all of 10 minutes to wiggle out of it. I left it off for a little while but she started chomping on the stitches so I had to put it back on. :( She's had it on for a couple of hours now so perhaps she's resigned to the fact she has to wear it.

Winnie Collar

She has eaten some biscuits and had a drink so she doesn't seem to be suffering too much from the anesthetic. I'm trying to ration her food because I don't think she should be having too much so soon after the operation. It's hard though because she must be starving because the last time she ate was over 24 hours ago.

She's already shown signs of playing - catching her own tail and pushing around one of her little mice. However, her tiredness has got the better of her and right now she is fast asleep. (She's lying down now... not asleep on her feet like in the photo below.)

Sleepy Winnie Collar

Winnie seems to have come out of the whole ordeal quite well but, unfortunately, the vet has some battle scars. They were going to do a post-op blood test to check her kidneys and liver but they couldn't hold her still long enough to actually get a sample. The vet was on the receiving end of her claws! It was the same vet who tried giving her an injection on our last visit and ended up loosing grip on the needle so it was hanging out of her neck. I think Winnie remembered him and thought it was payback time. Way to go Winnie! ;)

I'm so glad it went well. Winnie's a fighter! :D

The collar is soooooo cute, seriously.

She's definitely a fighter. I was checking her stitches yesterday and suddenly thought, 'How in the world are they going to get them out?' They had trouble holding her down to give her an injection and cutting stitches out is going to take much longer. I reckon you'll be able to hear Winnie carrying on from where you are when they try. ;)
