Winnie is back home after her operation. I picked her up about three hours ago. The operation went fine and she is doing OK.

She has one of those plastic collars on to stop her from licking and chewing her stitches. She doesn't like the bucket at all and really, who can blame her? It took her all of 10 minutes to wiggle out of it. I left it off for a little while but she started chomping on the stitches so I had to put it back on. :( She's had it on for a couple of hours now so perhaps she's resigned to the fact she has to wear it.

She has eaten some biscuits and had a drink so she doesn't seem to be suffering too much from the anesthetic. I'm trying to ration her food because I don't think she should be having too much so soon after the operation. It's hard though because she must be starving because the last time she ate was over 24 hours ago.
She's already shown signs of playing - catching her own tail and pushing around one of her little mice. However, her tiredness has got the better of her and right now she is fast asleep. (She's lying down now... not asleep on her feet like in the photo below.)

Winnie seems to have come out of the whole ordeal quite well but, unfortunately, the vet has some battle scars. They were going to do a post-op blood test to check her kidneys and liver but they couldn't hold her still long enough to actually get a sample. The vet was on the receiving end of her claws! It was the same vet who tried giving her an injection on our last visit and ended up loosing grip on the needle so it was hanging out of her neck. I think Winnie remembered him and thought it was payback time. Way to go Winnie! ;)

How long does she have to wear it? And do you have to take her back to the vet to get her stitches taken out, or are they the dissolving kind?

She'll probably have to wear it for a few days. I was initially told she would have to wear it until Tuesday when she goes back for her post-op check up, but the vet said I could take it off before then as long as she doesn't lick the stitches too much. I'll see how she goes over the next day or so.
The stitches will need to be taken out in about 10 days time.

She's okay though. In fact, she's pretty much back to her normal self, running around like the mad thing she is. And to think I'm meant to be keeping her calm and restrict her activities. I'd love to know how I'm supposed to do that!!! :D

I think she's okay except for the collar and once she gets that off she'll be fine. :) In fact, I'm sure we'll have trouble trying to keep her quiet and stop her running around too much!

She seems fine now. Back to her usual self, running around like nothing happened at all. She pulled the collar off herself yesterday morning and since she hasn't really bothered with her wound at all, we've left it off. She a lot happier now. :)

Poor Keyser. It's a shame you can't explain to them that they can't lick where they shouldn't, if you know what I mean. Then they wouldn't have to wear the silly things. :(
Winnie pulled her collar off yesterday morning but she's hasn't been paying any attention to the wound so we've left it off.

She is pretty much back to her old self, running around all crazy like. I'm meant to be 'limiting her activities' but I'm not having much luck. *lol*

She wriggled out of the collar yesterday morning and we haven't put it back on. She's much happier without it on. :D

She pulled the collar off by herself yesterday morning and we haven't put it back on her. She's so much happier now as the stitches don't seem to be bothering her at all, and she's back to running around like the crazy cat she is! I'm meant to be trying to keep her calm and restrict her activities... Lets just say I'm not having much luck with that! ;D
