THINGS I LOVED:

Sera Gamble
She is so ace. How did we get so lucky with the writers on our show?
The Kinks!
Best use of a song since 'Carry on My Wayward Son' and 'Renegade'.
Thanks to this episode I've had 'A Well Respected Man' in my head all weekend, punctuated by choruses of 'Lola'.
If one of the writers manage to work 'Lola' into an episode I'm going be super impressed.
Dean Wearing Stripy Pyjamas
Supernatural Wardrobe Department
Whoever decided Jensen would look good in this ensemble deserves a pay rise, a very large bonus and one of those little 'Employee of the Month' plaques.

If Sam Wesson was a Tech Support guy where I work, I'm pretty sure I'd have trouble printing All The Time.
Sam: "...I only moved here because I just broke up with my fiancé Madison but I called her number and I got a damn animal hospital."
Who said the angles don't have a sense of humour? *giggles*
I'm betting Zachariah is the class clown during those heavenly decoupage workshops.

Dean: "You can pretend all you want Sammy but sooner or later you're gonna have to face up to who you really are."
Sam: "Who's that?"
Dean: "You're one of us."
Sam: "NO. I'm not like you. This is not going to be my life."

From 4x17 - It's a Terrible Life

a) Zachariah (to Dean): "All I'm saying is, it's how you look at it. Most folks live and die without moving anything more than the dirt it takes to bury them. You get to change things. Save people. Maybe even the World. All the while you drive a classic car and fornicate with women. This isn't a curse. It's a gift. So for God's sake Dean, quit whining about it. Look around. There are plenty of fates worse than yours. So you with me? You want to go steam yourself another latte? Or are you ready to stand up and be who you really are."

It was awesome to hear Dean's words thrown back at him some four years later. The attention to detail on this show is amazing.

b) Sam (to Dean): "All I know is, this isn't who we're supposed to be..." "We're supposed to be something else. You're not just some corporate douche bag. This isn't you..."

In 1x01 Sam is running away from a hunter's life. In 4x17 he's running to it.
Destined To Be Together

It was almost like they were brothers again and yet they didn't even know each other. They were just so in sync with each other during this episode.
Even if they can't remember each other, they still need to be together.
Dean's Fake Family
Dean: "No, I'm Dean Smith, OK. Director of Sales and Marketing. I went to Stanford. My father's name is Bob, my mother's name is Ellen, and my sister's name is Jo."

Even if they won't/can't bring Ellen back it gives me warm fuzzy feelings knowing they haven't forgotten about her completely. *smishes the Smith Family*
BTW, I still want Ellen back. I'm never going to give up that dream.
Zachariah
Castiel's boss, Zachariah, takes time out from doing arts and crafts in Heaven, to mosey on down to Earth and strap himself into a smelly body, to deliver a very specific message to Dean:
Suck it up, Princess!
Of course, he says it a lot nicer and it's actually quite a positive experience for them both. Except perhaps that part about Dean's 'Daddy Issues'. Dean didn't so much care for that.

THINGS I LIKED:

The Gore
People microwaving their heads. People stabbing themselves in the jugular with pencils. People getting decapitated by elevators! \O/
It's been a while since I had to cover my eyes and look away from the screen like I did during the elevator scene.
I've watched the episode three times now and haven't been able to watch that scene once! \O/
Did you just call me Sammy???

Dean doesn't have any beer
LOL!
Colour My World
I really liked how the colour fades when Zachariah touches Dean's forehead.

I'm sure it means something and if I was smart I could probably figure it out. ;)
Responsibility v. Destiny
Zachariah (to Dean): "To prove to you the path you are on is truly in your blood. You're a hunter. Not because you're dad made you. Not because God called you back from hell but because it is what you are. And you love it. You will find your way to it in the dark every single time and you're miserable without it. Dean, let's be real here, you're good at this. You'll be successful. You will stop it."

Dean has always felt it's his responsibility to carry on the work his dad did but is that really the case? Is it his destiny calling after all.
