Let me start by saying earthquakes in Melbourne are very, very rare. I've lived here all my life and prior to 2009 I've only experienced one. So far this year we've had two and they were less than two weeks apart. That can't be good. *gulp*

We had an earth tremor on Friday 6th March, magnitude 4.7. It was only a little one but it was enough to shake the ground and rattle the windows.

We just had another earth tremor about 15 minutes ago. I'm the only one from my team at work today so when I felt the building shake I couldn't immediately turn around and say, "Hey, did you feel that?" I looked around at people in other areas but no one looked surprised or worried. I began to think I had imagined it. Then I got a instant message from a workmate who said they'd felt it at home. I immediately called Mum & Dad and they'd felt it too. Two in two weeks. That's not good. Not sure what the magnitude was of this one but Dad thought it was stronger.

Seriously, what else does Victoria have to put up with? Drought, bushfires, high winds, earthquakes all in the space of a month. If a volcano suddenly appears in the middle of downtown Melbourne tomorrow I'm going to be cranky.

It felt bigger to me too, but poss because i am on the 3rd floor, whereas last night I was on the ground (well, in my house!)

weird, eh?

From: [identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com

Same here, except I'm on the 7th floor today. It was definitely scarier this time.

It is really strange. News reports are saying anywhere from 4.5 to 4.7 with the same epicentre, around Korumburra. They have those giant earthworms in Korumburra. Perhaps it's them causing the mayhem.

LOL. Giant earthworms causing earthquakes! def a job for Sam and Dean!

It felt stronger to me, but then last time I was in a car, and this time I was in my house (in Frankston) and knick-knacky stuff actually fell off my shelves, which I'm pretty sure didn't happen last time.

Personally I'm a little nervous about aftershocks, as I know they can be stronger than the initial quake. :/

(I found your post via google blogsearch while looking for news on the quake, btw)

Things falling off shelves can't be good. o_O

It sounds like it was about the same magnitude as the one a couple of weeks ago. Perhaps it wasn't as far down.

One or two earth tremors every few years felt only within a small area is OK. But two tremors in two weeks so widely felt is making me a little nervous too. What is going on down there?

Thanks for letting me know how you stumbled across by LJ. I didn't think I recognised your username. :)

Well, living in Southern Cali has pretty much made me immune to earthquakes, but if you rarely have them (I have had family visit during a quake, and it freaks them out!) I understand your worries.

Here's hoping that volcano stays in your imagination :)

I was actually wondering what my post would sound like to people who lived in earthquake prone areas. :) But, yeah, because we don't usually get them, it's unsettling to say the least.

I'm really hoping the volcano stays in my imagination too. I did watch Dante's Peak the other day so if there is one I do know not to go swimming in the hot springs or flying in a helicopter. ;)

Im to young to die! *clings*
lol ;)

its very weird but at least they are fairly low key?1 idk!

From: [identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com

I don't wanna die either! *cries*

If we get another one within the next two weeks I'm seriously going to consider moving to... to... somewhere else. Tasmania perhaps? lol!

The folks in California probably wouldn't have even noticed them. ;)

Earthquake?

Jesus, are you alright?

We don't get many down here, but we do get some. As long as you are ok, and all my other Melbourne flisters too *goes to check*

Also, I was wondering, i love the Leverage icons you have with the vids in the one part of them. i was hoping that maybe you could make me a few of Sophia and a couple of ym fandoms?

From: [identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com

Yeah, everyone's fine. It was only a hiccup really but having two in two weeks is kind of scary. :(

Sure I can make you some Sophia and other icons. Just let me know which scences you'd like me to use. If you have small avis or movies of the scenes that would be great otherwise I have the first three seasons of OTH on DVD so I can pretty much get any scene from there. As for other fandoms, let me know and we'll see what we can do. :)

From: [identity profile] lucasharper.livejournal.com

The Sophia ones I'd like would be one where she's cheerleading.

And one where she's pouting and the caption "this is my pouty face"

And also one of Brooke with Peyton where they are huging and the caption "my OTP"

And if you get time a Dollhouse one of Eliza when she wakes up saying was a i asleep? and the caption "was I asleep?"

And any other Sophia ones you get time to make.

Thansk so much for doing this for me!

From: [identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com

Do you have any ideas which episodes these scenes would be in? I'm not really familiar with OTH so I wouldn't even know where to start looking for these things.

Also, I only have the pilot episode of Dollhouse - (I'm a bad Joss Whedon fan and haven't been able to force myself to watch more than 20 minutes...) - but if there is a scene in that where Eliza wakes up, I can do that.

From: [identity profile] lucasharper.livejournal.com

I'll have to go through my sister's dvds and see where the scenes are.

And yes there is a scene in the first ep of Dollhouse where she wakes up and says that line.

Thanks so much for doing this for me.

And I hope you feel better soon. :)

Earthquakes are really scary. In my country they're extremely rare, I've only experienced one but that was enough. Just feeling the earth shake...it's not a good feeling.

From: [identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com

It's not a good feeling at all. This second one has me a little nervous. *hides*

From: [identity profile] rose-janice.livejournal.com

Omg, I heard about the second earthquake. Didn't feel a thing but homg, that's so freaky! DDDDDDDDD:

Someone needs to call SamnDean to rescue us from this. *clings*

From: [identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com

It felt worse than the first one!!!

We must be due for another one soon... *looks 'round nervously*
