I mentioned yesterday things have cooled down in Melbourne a fair bit since last week. No cat is more grateful than Winnie Winchester. The high temperatures knocked her about and she was extemely lethargic. She spent most days just hanging out in the bedroom with air conditioning and she didn't even complain about being locked up all day. She's a smart cat. :)
Thursday night I took her outside, thinking it had cooled down enough (it was a lot cooler outside the house than inside) but Winnie being Winnie took the opportunity to run from one side of the garden to the other. Silly cat. I had to bring her back inside after about 10 minutes because she was panting! She was that hot.
The worse part of it was that was the night the power went off so I couldn't even turn the air conditioning on for her to rest in. She wasn't panting continually but on and off for about 30 minutes and stay put in one spot for more than a minute or two. I ended up lying on the tiles in the entry way with her in the hope she would finally rest. There was a coolish breeze coming through the screen door and that was enough to cool her down. It was not a fun hour or so, let me tell you.
Now that the temperatures are back in the normal range she's fine. We've been outside every day and she's venturing further and further. She's even been in next doors front yard. Luckily I was able to entice her back by getting her to chase a stick.

When she's outside Winnie is always on the move. Whether she's attacking stray sticks...

or keeping her eyes on busy bees...
(the yellow streak in front of her face is a bee she had been watching)

or poking around in the shrubs, there's always something for her to do. :)
(She looks so small in this picture)

Another thing about Winnie being outside means when she gets back inside she will be exhausted. This was taken the other night after she'd spent about 30 minutes running around outside. She was obviously hungry but after a chomping on her biscuits for a few minutes she just couldn't keep her eyes open. It was like watching an exhausted little kid fall asleep in their plate of spaghetti. ♥

It's just so funny and action packed.
It's another favourite show of mine now.
Christian Kane was born to play Elliot!
My fave quote has to be "That's 20 pounds of crazy in a 5 pound bag"

Aidan tells you when it's time for bed too? So does Winnie. :) She hasn't done it so much lately because it's too hot for her so she's been sticking to sleeping on the cool tiles. :)

It is so very entertaining and each episode is always good for at least half a dozen or more quotable lines. XD
You're going have so much fun watching the rest of the episodes. I'm kind of jealous actually. There's only 13 episodes in this season and you've still got 12 of them to go. There are only three left now. :( However, another good thing about it is the episodes are all extremely re-watchable. I pick up so much more the second or third time around. :)

Winnie's got so big and I think she's going to get a lot bigger. I look at her some days and wonder where my little kitty cat has gone. ;)

I think we've got a video of that around here somewhere. I should really convert it to DVD or AVI one of these days. That was it would be much easier to share. ;)

He does. When Mr. Po3 goes to bed, he'll say, "Is it bedtime?" And Aidan will look up at him and meow, and follow him to check the doors and then head into the bedroom. He comes back out and hangs out with me until he feels it's time for me to go to bed, at which point he'll jump up onto the desk and sit between me and the monitor while staring at me with his, "Come on, mama. It's bedtime," face. It's really funny.
Awh, poor Winnie. I hope it cools down soon for you guys.

Whether she's attacking stray sticks... Lily has a variation on that where she attacks the rug. She's a crazy little thing.
