Poor Piglet. As if the little dude doesn't have enough to be anxious about...

Also - another one below the cut.
It's kind of wrong but it's kind of funny.

On my own at work today. It's almost the end of my lunch break and I've spent the past hour watching this week's Leverage, answering LJ comments and eating a roast beef with Salt & Vinger chip sandwich.

Now I've just got to make it through the afternoon before I leave at about 6:00PM to go meet team!shortbus at 7:30PM. We are seeing My Bloody Valentine 3D at 9:30PM.

I don't think I've been this excited about a movie since... since... since forever! Of course, I'm excited about seeing Team!Shortbus too because it's been forever since I've seen those girls! Forever or, you know, October (or November) last year. ;)

This was the weather I was faced with on my way to work, on this, my last day before I have two weeks off for the Christmas/summer holidays. While I'm pretty sure Christmas is still scheduled for next Thursday, can someone please tell me when I can expect summer?
Things are kind of crazy these days...

[livejournal.com profile] weesta posted this on her journal the other week and for some reason - probably because work!bff and I were mucking about with these puzzles yesterday trying to match capital cities to states in the fastest time possible (my record: 1min 14sec) - I was thinking about it on the drive to work this morning.

So here's mine:

visited 25 states (50%)
Create your own visited map of The United States or try another Douwe Osinga project

I've been to the USA three times but my trip in 2006 helped with my stats big time. I flew to San Francisco and then caught the train from SFC - Seattle - Minneapolis/St. Paul - Boston - New York. That train trip covered a lot of states in between.

And just so my own country doesn't feel left out... )

On our flight back from Sydney Sunday night in addition to the flight attendant who told us off, there was a dude flight attendant who thought he was hilarious. For the first 15 minutes of the trip he decided meowing into the PA system every couple of minutes was a good idea. Yep, meowing... And to think we were the ones who got into trouble. *rollseyes*

Then, as we were coming into land he starts up with the meowing again before simply saying, "I highly recommend you get on the bus." Robyn and I are like, "WTF?" until Bec told us it was a public transport advert... Mmm, 'k.

I wonder if the driver of this bus randomly says, "I highly recommend you get on the plane," or barks like a dog.

Is this the bus?

Oh, boy. I've only got 22 minutes to get my Tuesday Pig 'n a Poke post in. The timestamp totally says 11:38pm. I call that a win!

  • Went to the first Melbourne Storm game of the NRL season last night. It was hotter than hell in the stadium and I swear the game went for about four hours.
(Un-exaggerated translation: Probably only a muggy 35°c in the stadium and the game was the usual 80 minutes long.)
EDIT: Final Score Melbourne Storm 32 New Zealand Warriors 18.

  • I bought a new camera on the weekend. My old Kodak Compact died last week so I got a teeny tiny little Olympus to replace it. It's kind of awesome because I can just throw it in my bag.
Random photos taken with my new camera... )

  • Two more days of work and then an extra long weekend. FTW! One thing I've discovered at my new job is It's hard work working for a living. )
★ Happy Tuesday(s)

★ Has anyone else developed an irrational fear of Tuesdays?
Just me? Just wondering...

★ I forgot to put my phone in my bag this morning when I left for work. I feel naked without it.
[livejournal.com profile] bobbinrob, I hope you have some luck finding yours :(

★ This is long overdue but thank you to whoever left me a message over here at [livejournal.com profile] svmadelyn's Valentine's Day Game. I wish I could thank you personally but since it's anonymous I'm going to have go with a Thank you! here, and hope you read this. ♥

★ I haven't written anything about 3x11 Mystery Spot yet. I mentioned last week the more I like an ep the harder it is to gather my thoughts into even the most basic of sentences and not leave anything out. Well, lets just say 3x11 has made it almost damn impossible.

[livejournal.com profile] impala_chick and I were comment chatting here.

As a result, I came up with this.

Substitute work for school, I can live with being 3:15pm.

Oh, god. Now I've got the opening song from High School Musical 2 stuck in my head.

A while back I wanted to know if you could make little HTML stars similar to the little ♥'s people make. As similar as a star can be to a heart, that is. Thanks to [profile] ssstevie  asking the same question the other day, I now know how to make ★!

BUT. And it's a big BUT. Does everyone see this ★ as a star?

On my laptop I see a star.
On my PC at work I see a little box.

★ ★ ★

10 THINGS THAT RECENTLY MADE ME HAPPY
Nabbed from [personal profile] bobbinrob . Simply list 10 things which recently made you happy!
(There's something about tagging people and making them do this as well but I'm rebelling. If you want to play, however, go for it!)

  1. Finding out how to make little HTML stars - ★
  2. Visiting with friends for the weekend.
  3. Watching little Mr. Now-I'm-Two practice his golf shots.
  4. Chatting with [personal profile] munibunny  and finding out she's feeling better.
  5. Seeing new photos of Jensen Ackles.
  6. Two of my favourite fics being updated on the same day.
  7. Gaining two new friends - [personal profile] bobbinrob  and [personal profile] laceandgrace  via a friending MEME at [profile] ssstevie's.
  8. Decorating a cake to look like Henry the Octopus.
  9. Hearing that the first word Mr. Now-I'm-Two said when he woke up this morning was 'Katy'.
  10. David Duchovny winning a Golden Globe.
The forecast for today is 42°c. For those of you who like the 'F' word, that's 107.6°f. It's 14:15 and it's already 39°c.

I'm almost happy to be at work but only because of air conditioning. It's such a pity about the actual 'work' part of work. Yeah, I'm lazy. Lots of people are taking a half day today, something about it being the end of the year, so it's actually pretty quiet.

The worst thing about today, without a doubt, is having to drive in to work. My car doesn't have air conditioning. Well, it does but it stopped working three summers ago and I've never had it fixed. Did I mention I was lazy?

This morning I had an almost 'YKYMWTMSW...' moment when I was listening to Mean Girls by Sugarland (not the actual video clip for the song) and the beginning of it made me think of Jensen Ackles.

Not that I think Jensen is a 'mean girl' or any kind of girl for that matter. And it didn't make me think of Supernatural!Ackles or DarkAngel!Ackles or even DOOL!Ackles... well, yeah, maybe a little about DOOL!Ackles... but mostly it made me think of this Ackles:

Cheerleader!Ackles.

The end.

  1. Get my Storm Tattoo - I think I've finally decided on this, to go on my shoulder. There is, however, still 2 hours and 30 minutes before my appointment so that's plenty of time to change my mind. DONE!!!

  2. Make Christmas Cards - I've really got to get moving on this one, especially the overseas ones. They've got a big ocean to cross, ya know, and it takes a long long time. *nods*

  3. Create something for [livejournal.com profile] ssstevie's "This is Your Life, Dean" project. - I'm thinking, I'm thinking, I'm thinking...

  4. Christmas shopping - I still need to get something for Mum, Dad, Grandma, Jenny, Michael, Samantha, Nicholas, Andrew, Lisa, Adelaide, Eloise, Laura, Emily... oh, heck, I still need to get SOMETHING for EVERYONE. Why couldn't I have started shopping earlier? There are only 17 shopping days to go, right? *gulp*

  5. Start / Finish making a few surprise Christmas presents. - Sssshhh, it's a secret.

Okay, so now I've listed everything it doesn't seem like that much. Really...

Dear Santa...

Dear Santa,

This year I've been busy!

Last week I stole [livejournal.com profile] anteka's purse (-30 points). Last Tuesday [livejournal.com profile] jaimsie and I donated clothes to the needy (11 points). Last Sunday I gave [livejournal.com profile] munibunny a life-saving blood transfusion (50 points). Last Saturday I invaded Iraq, broke it, and couldn't glue it back together before Mom got home (-1012 points). In March I gave [livejournal.com profile] thandie a Dutch Oven (-10 points).

Overall, I've been naughty (-991 points). For Christmas I deserve a lump of coal!

Sincerely,
katysam

Ummm, sorry [livejournal.com profile] anteka. *is ashamed*
Hey, [livejournal.com profile] jaimsie! Yay us!
[livejournal.com profile] munibunny, I hope the life-saving blood tranfusion worked. Get well soon!
Yeah, about the Iraq thingy. Oops. But it was in like a gazillion pieces and I've never been good at jigsaw puzzles.
[livejournal.com profile] thandie I promise I won't ever do it again. *is sorry*
This is possibly one of the sweetest things I have ever seen.

The below video shows footage of Jupiter the Lion greeting the person who nursed him back to health after he was rescued from a traveling circus six years ago.

While I was waiting for CSI to start I was flicking channels and who should pop up on MTV?
None other than Jared Padalecki, that's who! I forgot all about looking out for Room 401 starting over here.
I guess that'll give me something to watch Sunday nights at 8pm.

Wow! That describes me perfectly. I think someone must have been following me around, taking notes.
Oh well, perhaps they have me confused with someone else... *sigh*

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 123.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post the text of the next 4-7 sentences on your LJ along with these instructions.
5.Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest (unless it's too troublesome to reach and is really heavy. Then go back to step 1).

This did indeed provoke a hell of a storm that made the debates of 1850 look like a gentle shower. The first clouds blew up from the Pierce administration itself. The president feared the political consequences of repudiating a covenant sanctified by thirty-four years of national life. Except for Secretary of War Jefferson Davis and Secretary of the Navy James Dobbin of North Carolina, the cabinet opposed the repeal clause. The administration drafted a vague alternative that would have referred the whole question of slavery in the territories to the Supreme Court.

Dear Mars (the confectionery company, not the planet),

Thank you so much for bringing back Dark Chocolate M&Ms.

Would it be too much trouble to also bring back White Chocolate M&Ms, aka. Heaven in a crispy shell?

I also discovered there is such a thing as a Virtual Katy

One of those would be so handy for when I'm not around or need to be in two places at once. *nods*

I wonder if I could purchase a 'Virtual Katy' and set it up at work instead of going myself. I mean, it would be like I was virtually be there, right?

Led Zeppelin are reforming for a one-off show in London.

Tell me this isn't a perfect opportunity to add an international flavour to Supernatural:
ChannelDateListing
CWMon, Nov 26 8:30pmSPECIAL: Supernatural Vacation
The Winchester brothers go to London, for a long overdue vacation. While Sam geeks out at the historical architecture and joins the Oxford University Rowing Club, Dean rocks out with Led Zeppelin and tries to make members of the Queen's Guard laugh with his infamous octopus joke.

Okay, this may or may not have been funnier when I thought about it on the train this morning... and may or may not have been influenced by fond memories of Family Ties Vacation.
