Hey, Tuesday. Pig 'n a Poke!

Oh, boy. I've only got 22 minutes to get my Tuesday Pig 'n a Poke post in. The timestamp totally says 11:38pm. I call that a win!

  • Went to the first Melbourne Storm game of the NRL season last night. It was hotter than hell in the stadium and I swear the game went for about four hours.
(Un-exaggerated translation: Probably only a muggy 35°c in the stadium and the game was the usual 80 minutes long.)
EDIT: Final Score Melbourne Storm 32 New Zealand Warriors 18.

  • I bought a new camera on the weekend. My old Kodak Compact died last week so I got a teeny tiny little Olympus to replace it. It's kind of awesome because I can just throw it in my bag.

Wouldn't you know it. The clearest picture is the one where I'm pulling the stupid face.

Please pretend this photo isn't blurry.

My Storm Tattoo. It's on my right shoulder so I can't really see it. This was the first time I've seen it properly. That second 'E' there is a bit dodgy o_O So is the 'R'! Yikes ;)
And seriously! How many freckles do I have on my shoulder???

Saturday night I met Mum, Dad, my sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew at The Pancake Parlour for dinner. This is a photo of what was my dinner - 'Breast of Chicken with hollandaise sauce.' (The creamy coloured ball is the sauce. No, I did not have ice-cream on my chicken!)
Disclaimer: Dinner may taste better than it looks.

Before dinner Mum, Dad, my sister, brother-in-law, niece and nephew went to Melbourne Zoo to see the Choir of Hardknocks perform. My mum bought me home a tiger :)

The dude on the left is Matty Geyer, the oldest player on the Melbourne Storm team. The dude on the right is Cooper Cronk, the player with the BEST name in the history of Melbourne Storm EVER!

  • Two more days of work and then an extra long weekend. FTW! One thing I've discovered at my new job is ... it's hard work, working for a living. I knew I had it easy for the previous three years but this past three weeks have been a real eye opener. I rarely get time to do more than refresh my flist once or twice a day, let alone post. I feel so out of touch. Fancy working cutting into my internet time. It's just not right.

  • [livejournal.com profile] munibunny is probably relaxing on the beach right about now on her mini-vacation. *is jealous* Is there room on that beach for me? I renewed my passport the other day and I'm fully prepared to use it :D

  • And in a few days [livejournal.com profile] bobbinrob leaves for her Excellent Adventure in California and Florida. Jared and Jim and Steve, Oh My! *is jealous*

  • Hi to everyone on my flist studying hard at Uni or School. You get days off school soon! \O/ Hang in there.

  • I finally posted Batch #2 of my Goonies icons. Only 46 more to go. Thank goodness for the long weekend.

  • It's bed time.

What a cute camera!

Did the Storm win? Cute tiger.

I'd have more to say, but I'm mesmerized by the Thighs O'Doom of Messieurs Geyer & Cronk. Holy schnikes!

[identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com 2008-03-18 02:23 pm (UTC)(link)
The camera is so tiny. It's smaller than my phone!

Oh, I can't believe I didn't say who won. Yep, Storm won 32-18.

Their thighs are impressive, that's for sure. Cooper's right thigh looks especially well defined in that shot :) They are big boys, however, Geyer and Cronk are actually amongst the smaller/leaner guys in the teams. Some of the forwards as massive. I'll try and get a photo of them next game :)

[identity profile] whimsywinx.livejournal.com 2008-03-18 02:55 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm thinking I need a new camera. I inherited a rather clunky one. It works, but it ain't pretty.

Yay Storm!!! (Is now the time to say I know nothing about rugby except that I wouldn't want to play it. Although, one of my cousins did when he was in college.)

The tiger is adorable!

[identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 10:19 am (UTC)(link)
My old Kodak camera was a little chunky but not too bad. While it was working I couldn't justify getting a new little one. I'd had the Kodak for about five years and it served me well so I was kind of sad about it dying. Of course, getting a new one was exciting too.

LOL. All you need to know is that to go forward you need to pass the ball backwards ;) It makes total sense. Honest. Oh, and I wouldn't want to play it either.

He is a very cute tiger. My niece keeps asking me if I've named him yet. Her suggestion is 'Spotty'. o_O That's coming from an 11 year old who has a grey cat called 'Ginger'.

[identity profile] whimsywinx.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, that makes perfect sense. Ball goes back so team can go forward.

I like the way your niece thinks.

I renewed my passport the other day and I'm fully prepared to use it

COME SEE ME!

And you are adorable. Sorry about work. Do you like it at least?

[identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 10:32 am (UTC)(link)
HAPPY BIRTHDAY STEVIE!!!

I will come visit you. Will you be home in, say, October? :D
Seriously, my next trip to the USA will most definitely include Texas, and New Mexico and I'm not sure where else. But I have it in my head that Texas is the next state I need to see. I'm just not really sure when it will be :)

Dare I say, I actually love my new job. It's so busy - ALL THE TIME - but at the moment it's still a good busy. It's exciting, shiny and new. It makes the day go really fast. Having said that, I'm really looking forward to this long weekend, just for the break.

*hugs*

I'll always be here. ;) If you come in October, I'll be home.

[identity profile] blackbirdj2.livejournal.com 2008-03-18 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Nice camera...it's always cool to play with new toys. *pets her computer*

And OMG now I know where I "know" you from...you totally look like a Belgian actress, but I can't find a good picture of her smiling or I'd show you. ;)

[identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 11:12 am (UTC)(link)
New toys are definitely fun :)
Your laptop sounds great.
I look like a Belgium actress? Heehee. That's funny. :)

[identity profile] blackbirdj2.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 01:13 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, you do. I can't find a good picture of her, and none where she's smiling. Here's a very small one.

Im totally taking you with me *nods*
hope you slept hon

[identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 11:17 am (UTC)(link)
I told you I couldn't go a Tuesday without a Pig 'n a Poke post. I started the post before midnight so I think it counts as a Tuesday post. I'll have to be better organised next week.
Hey, you're going to miss the next three Pig 'n a Pokes! I'll have to text you on Pig 'n a Poke Tuesdays instead ;)
New camera is excellent.
Going to the zoo is an awesome idea. We could rename all the animals Sam or Dean or Jared or Jensen. *nods*
Yep, I did eventually go to bed. Unfortunately I had to get up about four hours later. That kind of sucked.
Hope you're enjoying the beginning of your holiday :)

[identity profile] killingher-time.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 03:46 am (UTC)(link)
HAHA, you are just having too much fun with your camera :D
and the food you had on that plate *YUM* Indeed it does look like ice cream on a chicken. HEY-- I would've eaten' it that way... if really was ice cream on there! hahaa.

and what a dedicated fan to get a tat. like that. ;)

[identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 11:20 am (UTC)(link)
I am having way too much fun with my camera.
Not sure I'd cope with ice cream on chicken. Perhaps that could be a new meal deal from KFC - Chicken Nuggets with Ice Cream. Yum!
I have another 'Storm' tatt on my hip from when they won the comp in 1999. I'm kind of nervous they'll win again ;) I think I'm done with the tatts now.

[identity profile] tariel22.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 03:54 am (UTC)(link)
Your tiny, pretty camera is very cool. And you are adorable. :) As is your baby tiger.

Okay, is that a chicken breast on a pancake? That is bizarre, and yet intriguing.

Yowza! Those guys are built! Are they really that big, or is that girl really that tiny?

[identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 11:32 am (UTC)(link)
Very tiny. I'm having trouble holding it.

Yep, it's chicken on a buckwheat pancake. It's delicious.
They also have steak on a pancake and fish on a pancake, amongst other things. They sound weird but they are really nice. The buckwheat pancakes are definitely savoury and more solid than your usual fluffy white sweeter pancakes.

The little girl is only tiny but they boys are fairly solid. These two players are part of the smaller/lighter/faster players on the team. Some of the players are enormous.

[identity profile] ragingquiet26.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 05:31 am (UTC)(link)
Hey sweetie!
PIG IN A POKE time, YAY!

Your camera is SO CUTE. And a very nice colour, I might add. *loves*
Although you win more cute points, cuz you're ADORABLE

PRETTY pictures, Katy. *loves your new tiger*

And thank GOD for holidays soon. *is dying from Uni-induced stress*

[identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 11:41 am (UTC)(link)
Howdy there :)
I need to tell you again how much I loved that picture you drew. You are so incredibly talented.
The camera came in three colours - Red, blue or silver - so not only did I have to spend a long long time deciding which camera I actually wanted to get, I then had to pick a colour. The blue is a very pretty blue.
And he's very pretty plastic tiger. He has a new home on my desk at work. ;)
Only one more day to the Easter break! \O/ Whoo hoo!

[identity profile] evenindeath.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 06:32 am (UTC)(link)
That is such a sexy camera!
Olympus camera's are really good, though the model I got was pants lol
OMG that's such a cool tattoo, shame the person that did it wasn't so great with their lettering

[identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 11:51 am (UTC)(link)
It's very sleak and shiny ;) Way back in the day when cameras took real film *wink* I had a couple of Olympus compact cameras and I absolutely loved them. Especially the first one. I've never had, or know anyone who's had one of their digitals though but so far, so good.
The tattooist just seemed to have trouble with the Es and the Rs :) The 2007 is really neat though. I wondered if it's because it's not a normal tattoo font. I think they usually use serif or fancier fonts but I wanted the sans serif. Or perhaps I moved while she was writing. *lol* Not that it hurts or anything ;)

[identity profile] evenindeath.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
Seriously though how much does it hurt? I've had people saying it's just like your skin burning, others saying it hurts like it's just not funny

[identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 12:24 pm (UTC)(link)
For about 24 hours or so after you get it done it does burn a little, something like you have a mild sunburn. Nothing too major.

Getting the tattoo done, on the other hand, does hurt but not incredibly so. I've had two done and both times what happened is they tattoo for 10 seconds (or it seems) and then they'll stop to reload the needle or move their hand, etc. Those little breaks are enough for you to have a break too. The longer they do it without stopping the more it hurts but once they stop and then start again it's a lot better. Hope that makes sense.

I've heard it also depends on where you get it done too. BUT I've heard conflicting theories. Some people say getting it done on your bum doesn't hurt but I've also heard others say it really hurts. I think it depends a lot on your tolerance to pain. From memory my hip and shoulder hurt about the same.

I hope that doesn't put you off. Honestly, it's not that bad and once the needle work is over it's fine. :)

[identity profile] evenindeath.livejournal.com 2008-03-19 01:10 pm (UTC)(link)
The pain wouldn't put me off, 'cause I've got quite a good pain tolerance. I do have a major phobia of needles though XD so odds are I'll cry my way through it. But yeah the only thing that's making me kinda iffy is the fact that I can't change or remove it in 10 or 20 years when if I no longer like it

[identity profile] rose-janice.livejournal.com 2008-03-21 02:58 pm (UTC)(link)
FAAAAAACE! Nomnom. :D

Uni, ew. I get the week off but HEAPS of studying to do anyway.

SIGH.

<3

[identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 12:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh noes! I've found comments I haven't replied to. I really didn't user my Easter break productively ;)
*hugs*

[identity profile] rose-janice.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 01:16 pm (UTC)(link)
Aww, that's okay. :)

Don't you hate it when work cuts into internet time. It's just wrong, I tell you!

Is that guy's name really Cooper Cronk? I mean, wow!

Just noticed.... is that a pancake under the chicken? And yes, that was either a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a really big wad of butter.

Love the tattoo! and the pics of you!!!

And, yeah, I've saved some suntan lotion for you. It's the spray on kind so we don't waste any time before getting into the water.

[identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 12:44 pm (UTC)(link)
Yep. His name is really Cooper Cronk. Awesome, huh?
Not ice cream. I swear :) It's hollandaise sauce which translates to a really big wad of butter ;)
Cool. I'm going to need the suntan lotion. I got sunburnt on the weekend from being in the sun for like 1.5 hours... and it wasn't even THAT hot.

[identity profile] vella-amor-dm.livejournal.com 2008-03-23 05:25 am (UTC)(link)
Wouldn't you know it. The clearest picture is the one where I'm pulling the stupid face.
fact of life - it never does what you want it to do!

aww thanx! break is almost over and i feel bad for not havign done as much as i should have ... eep ... *tugs non-existant collar*

[identity profile] katysam.livejournal.com 2008-03-25 12:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I really didn't have anything to do over the break but I still feel bad for not having done more during the four days :)
At the time, though, sitting around doing very little was a very nice way to spend my time.

[identity profile] vella-amor-dm.livejournal.com 2008-03-26 11:32 am (UTC)(link)
lol - agreed! i so feel like doing that but it equally just can't happen *sighs*

1st 2 midcourses on friday! *hides*
