THREE NAMES I GO BY

Katy
The one which appears on my birth certificate. It's not short of anything. I haven't forgotten the 'h'. It's Katie with a 'Y'.

Katysam
User/screen name and nickname given to me by my mum. It makes more sense if you know my middle name is Samantha.

Tristo
Nickname which came about on a road trip I took with one of my rl!bffs back in 1999. At the time, Tristo (or more accurately, Tristan) was a player for our favourite sporting club, Melbourne Storm. A fictional conversation between Lisa and I, pretending to me Matty Geyer (another player) and Tristan Brady Smith, lead to me being called Tristo and Lisa being called Matty. For some reason, Tristo stuck. It could be because I often refer to myself as 'Tristo' in the third person. Or it might not. :) Even Lisa's three year old son, Ryan, and his three year old cousin, Campbell, call me Tristo. Well, Aunty Tristo. :P

I probably wasn't meant to be sharing this much detail, was I? Nevermind, I'm redefining the rules of this meme! Read more...  )

☀ Here I am on Day 2 of my annual leave (not including the weekend) and all I've done is watch Martha Stewart, Ellen, The View, Ready Steady Cook, old episodes of A Country Practice, and the occasional episode of Leverage. *is being lazy*

☀ Victoria was on 'Fire Alert' again today because of the high temperatures and high winds expected. Around 300 schools across the state were closed as a precaution, including the school across the road from my house. *gulp* Can you believe it? While school kids across the other side of the world were having a 'Snow Day', kids here were having a 'Fire Day'. Luckily, it was nowhere near as hot as expected and the wind seemed to have less impact than expected.

☀ Speaking of wind, let me share with you this little bit of advice:
If it hasn't rained during the past 13 years and it's a really, really, really windy day, you probably shouldn't rely on a screen door. This is kinda gross but... )

☀ It's raining now and has been for the past four hours. \O/ I moved my car out from under the carport into the rain so it could have a shower. I'm hoping some of the dirt and grime that's accumulated on it will wash off.

☀ It's Tuesday but there's no Leverage. :( Is it June yet? Apparently they are filming the new season in in Portland, Oregon. Does anyone live in Portland? Can I come visit? Please?

☀ Once upon a time I used to watch another TV Show which starred two extremely talented guys, who also happen to be extremely hot, Jensen Ackles and Jared Padasomething.

It seems like only yesterday I looked up a new show called Supernatural on IMDB.com and said, to no one in particular,
"Hey, Jared, you're that dude from Gilmore Girls and Jensen... sorry, dude, I have no idea where you're from."
Hard to believe it was almost four years ago.

Today, I still watch Supernatural and I still talk to myself. Just ask work!bff. ;)
Jensen and Jared... Don't try to deny their epic romance. )

☀ Happy Tuesday!

☀ Happy Pancake Day. Does everyone have Pancake Day on Shrove Tuesday? I think I read somewhere it may just be an Australian/UK thing...

☀ Work!bff and I hosted morning tea today in honour of Pancake Day. I brought in pancakes and cream, jam, Nutella, choc chips, lemon, sugar, and sprinkles. Needless to say, we didn't need any lunch.

☀ Spotted in Melbourne this afternoon. One bus with My Bloody Valentine 3D advertising:

Q: What is wrong with this picture?
Hint: In Australia MBV3D is rated R18+ (Restricted) - People under 18 may not buy, rent or exhibit these films.

☀ Inspired by yesterday's Oscars and waiting for the final episode of Leverage today/tomorrow, I'm currently watching Ordinary People (1980) with a very, very young Timothy Hutton. You might be surprised who else is in it. Surprise! )

☀ Last but not least, I'm sorry. I've been kind of MIA this past week or so. Motivation is at an all time low for me at the moment. Motivation to do anything. I haven't even taken any photos of the little gremlin this week for Winchester Wednesday tomorrow. Blah... )
or Seven Things I've Learned During the Past 72 hours.

Number 1: I am a sucky friend. :( I completely missed [livejournal.com profile] evenindeath's birthday. :( This is way way too late but Happy 'Belated' Birthday, Hannah. Hope you had a lovely day and that you are enjoying your holiday away from Uni. *hugs*

Number 2: I am a sucky friend. I've hardly commented on anyone's entries in the new year. I thought once Christmas/New Year was over, I'd have a ton of time up my sleeves to play on LJ. Alas, that was not to be. As of yesterday, I'm back at work and, funny enough, I've actually had to work. Even though I've been trying to read my flist, I'm not doing too well. (see Number 1) It's only the 7th day of the year and I already feel like I'm behind on everything. *dramatic sigh* I'm going to catch up! I will. Expect random & belated comments from me over the next couple of days.

Number 3: Birthday parties for three-year-olds are kind of exhausting. It was Campbell's birthday party on Sunday. Campbell is my friends, Caz and Trent, little boy. They live about 3 hours away and Mum and I drove up to spend the afternoon at the party. This is the same little boy who we made the 'Henry the Octopus' cake for last year. No cake was required this year but there were lots of three year olds running around and swimming in the pool and eating copious amounts of sugar! It was kind of awesome. :D

Number 4: Guitar Hero Rocks! After all the kids went home, and Campbell went to his stay with his Grandparents, I got to play Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. How much freakin' fun is that game!!! It was the first time I'd ever played any of the Guitar Hero games and I survived all six songs I tried without getting boo'd off-stage. For someone who has absolutely no musical talent what-so-ever it was like a dream come true. It was love at first play! ;)

Number 5: I can't live without Guitar Hero. (see Number 4) Work!bff and I went to see the movie, Australia last night after work and we had a few hours to kill before it started. As it turned out, it was just enough time for me to go to K-Mart to purchase 'Guitar Hero: World Tour' for a Wii and then go to JB HiFi to purchase the Wii! Over the past month I've had a couple of goes on Wii and thought it was pretty cool. Needing a console to play Guitar Hero on pushed me over the edge to purchase one. Not sure when I'm going to play it considering I've already said I feel like I'm behind on everything else. (see Number 2.)

Number 6: Australia was most enjoyable. Nicole Kidman was a bit over the top and somewhat annoying in the first half but made up for it in the second half. Hugh Jackman was pretty good and pretty pretty. Very pretty. Yeah, so, I'm a little shallow. ;)

Number 7: I'm kind of desperate to see previews for My Bloody Valentine 3D and Friday the 13th. I was very disappointed they weren't shown prior to Australia (as if they would be!) and it got me wondering which movie I could go see that would give me the best opportunity to see them. Seeing a movie just to see the previews... *facepalm*

Happy Tuesday because somewhere in the World it's still Tuesday. ")
Today wasn't the best Tuesdays in the history of Tuesdays but it did have it's highlights.

[livejournal.com profile] munibunny sent me a copy of A Christmas Cottage and it arrived today! \O/ I haven't had a chance to watch it yet but I'm hoping to on Thursday. ♥

★ Worf!bff and I were somewhat rebellious at work today and decided for one reason or another, we deserved an extra long lunch. It's been tough on work!bff... You know, having to work and all after two weeks holiday. We got back to our desks a little after we should have... a big little after we should have. ;)

★ During lunch work!bff was telling me how he is addicted to a game on Facebook called 'Guess the Sketch'. It's like Pictionary and players take it in turns to guess what another player is drawing.

This afternoon, we decided to play our own version of the game.

Of course, it ended up being all about Supernatural )

★ In between long lunches and playing 'Pictionary' I did actually get some work done. I'm not a complete slacker...

★ Happy Tuesday!

( Dec. 15th, 2008 10:56 pm)
The rules are that for 8 days you have to post something that made you happy that day. Tag 8 people to do the same.

Day 1: work!bff being back at work after two weeks away.

If you would like to share what makes you happy for the next 8 days... Tag, you're it!

Today's post is brought to you at the all-new early time of 6:00PM.

Except to me, 6:00pm it late because I'm still stuck at work. I've been here since 7:50am and now I'm waiting on someone to assign something back to me before I can leave. Because I didn't want to waste my time and I wanted to use it productively, I've been reading my flist. You may even see the odd comment from me! \O/ *facepalm*

I'm pretty much on my own for the next two weeks while work!bff is taking holidays. There is a third person who 'works' with us but, yeah, ... let's just say I'm pretty much on my own. It's been a busy few days and I don't think it's going to let up any time soon.

Yesterday morning I did get find about 20 minutes to start decorating the Christmas Tree for my desk. It's a work in progress but here's a sneak peek..

No photos of Winnie to share today but perhaps I'll post tomorrow and start a tradition of 'Hey, Wednesday! Winchester!' Or, you know, not... :)

This is quite possible to fasted LJ entry I've ever done. Any spelling or grammatical errors are entirely mine.

Happy Tuesday!
[livejournal.com profile] weesta posted this on her journal the other week and for some reason - probably because work!bff and I were mucking about with these puzzles yesterday trying to match capital cities to states in the fastest time possible (my record: 1min 14sec) - I was thinking about it on the drive to work this morning.

So here's mine:

visited 25 states (50%)
Create your own visited map of The United States or try another Douwe Osinga project

I've been to the USA three times but my trip in 2006 helped with my stats big time. I flew to San Francisco and then caught the train from SFC - Seattle - Minneapolis/St. Paul - Boston - New York. That train trip covered a lot of states in between.

And just so my own country doesn't feel left out... )

Hello! Long time no write :)

I can't believe my birthday was a week ago. It doesn't seem that long ago but perhaps that's because it continued over this past weekend.

Friday night I went out to dinner with work!bff for my birthday and then we watched Supernatural 4x07. As much as I love the zany episodes, it was nice to get back to the serious issues at hand. It was also great to see Castiel back. I've missed that little guy!

★ ★ ★

Saturday afternoon my sister, Jenny, and her two kids, Samantha and Nicholas, dropped by with my birthday present which looked exactly like this:

They got me a little kitty!!!

Her name is Winchester, aka. Winnie, and she is adorable and cute and sooky and snuggly and soft and perfect!
Winchester meet flist. Flist meet Winchester. )

★ ★ ★

Saturday night I went to my friends Glenn and Tanya's place for dinner with them and Caz, Trent and Campbell.
Or at least that's what I was going there for... )

★ ★ ★

Today was a public holiday in Melbourne because of The Melbourne Cup. The Melbourne Cup is a horse race.
So, yep, I didn't have to go to work because of horse race. \O/
I love my city!!!

★ ★ ★

Happy Tuesday everyone!
Vote well, USA Flisters.
Please. :)

Thank you Flist!

I was spoilt with virtual gifts from [livejournal.com profile] munibunny, [livejournal.com profile] raputathebuta, [livejournal.com profile] whimsywinx, [livejournal.com profile] tariel22, and [livejournal.com profile] ckll, LJ birthday posts from [livejournal.com profile] vella_amor_dm, [livejournal.com profile] kros_21, [livejournal.com profile] rose_janice, [livejournal.com profile] bobbinrob, [livejournal.com profile] chasingangel82, [livejournal.com profile] ckll, [livejournal.com profile] goodbyetoyou, [livejournal.com profile] tariel22, [livejournal.com profile] cologne_chick, [livejournal.com profile] deluweil and [livejournal.com profile] deansam67, and extra paid account time from [livejournal.com profile] munibunny.

You guys are so ace.
Your kind words and birthday wishes made my day!
Thank you. *smishy hugs all round*

I had to work today which kind of sucked. In fact, I'm thinking of starting a petition to make it illegal to work on one's birthday. Anyone want to sign up?

It wasn't all bad though. I got some cool presents from work!bff.
Do you think he knows me a little?
A Very Supernatural Birthday! )

Other pressies from my family included an iTUNES voucher which I'm going to be used to get Pink's latest CD (I'm seeing her when she tours here next year), a JB HIFI voucher (might get a USB HDTV Tuner for my laptop...) and money.

For dinner we had Toad in the Hole which is probably the closest I'm ever going to get to having 'Pig 'n a Poke!' Hey, they both have sausages in them... *lol*

Happy Tuesday Folks!

1) Melbourne Storm are into the 2008 NRL GRAND FINAL! \O/

I was so nervous going into last week's game and I spent the entire week telling everyone we were going to get thrashed. Imagine my surprise when we beat the Cronulla Sharks 28-ZERO!!! o_O I just hope the same team shows up for the Grand Final...

The game is in Sydney which is approximately 1000kms (620 miles) away from Melbourne. You know what that means? ROAD TRIP!!! I'm driving up with Emma and Dan on Saturday. I can't wait. \O/

2) Work!bff and I got a whiteboard put up near our desk (for work purposes) and because everything really does lead back to Supernatural...
I Supernatural'd it with my mad artistic skills... )

3) Our Footy Final Fiesta at work went down a treat last Friday. About 13 people joined in the handball competition, a few more ate the food, and the winner of the 'Pick the Margin' competition took home a cool $48! :) It made for an enjoyable way to spend an hour or so.

Work!bff and I were the only ones who ended up decorating our desks. And because I decorated mine in Storm colours, I get to leave it up for at least another week.
See... )

4) Happy Tuesday!

☀ I've been a bad LJ friend lately. I'm so sorry about that. :( I've read all your posts but haven't had a chance to comment. Expect me to pop in and randomly comment to your posts from the past four or five days, 'k. :)

☀ I've only got three or four more days of house sitting left and then I'm back home with a regular internet connection. \O/ I'll be able to see photo and icon posts, and videos, and all those good things I've been missing out on for the past 7 weeks. Yay!

☀ Melbourne Storm are still in the NRL Finals. But I think we used our 'Get out of Jail Free' card... )

☀ Friday morning at work we are having a 'Footy Finals Fiesta'. Nice alliteration, hey... )

☀ I discovered plurk today. I've seen [livejournal.com profile] whimsywinx and [livejournal.com profile] bananabehr talking about and since I was at work by myself today so I thought I'd take a little look. *is sneaky* Verdict: Fun and possibly addictive. As if I need another distraction on the internet... I can't even keep up with LJ! Thanks [livejournal.com profile] whimsywinx and [livejournal.com profile] bananabehr for making me feel welcome over there. :)

☀ Have we all recovered from 4x01 yet? Only two more sleeps until 4x02!!!

☀ Happy Tuesday!

( Sep. 16th, 2008 10:22 am)

1) *Claps Hands*

2) Feeling a little better today but I still have a generel malaise. At least the sun is out and my hair is somewhat better.

3) I took a few photos of my trip to the city on Saturday. There's only about nine photos and they aren't very big. Photos: My Town, Melbourne...  )

4) Happy *insert appropriate day of the week here*

or at least it was this morning. Turns out the weather was just taunting me because by lunchtime the sky was full of clouds and by this evening it was raining. So much for the first day of Spring. Ha!

1). I had to move desks at work today. More people are moving on to our floor so we've been shuffled around to make room for them. We didn't have to move far - just to the next 'pod' of four desks - but it has made me feel all disoriented. I'm sitting with my back to the world now. I'm sure I'll get used to it soon enough.

I've already made myself at home - Click for pics )

2). Random Advice: Don't try to download songs from iTunes via a dial-up connection. I've been trying to download Brian McFadden's Twisted and it's taking forever. 12 minutes and counting...

3). I'm watching an old episode of Bones and I have to say Bones looks pretty good as Wonder Woman. Also, besides being tall, dark and handsome, Booth and Sam Winchester have something in common; They both suffer from coulrophobia. *nods* (Is David Boreanz tall? I have no idea...)

4). Melbourne Storm lost on the weekend. )

5). 18 Sleeps til Supernatural 4x01.

1. Happy Birthday [livejournal.com profile] ragingquiet26
Hope your first day in your 20's is a lovely one. *hugs* ♥ ♥ ♥

2. 26,500 Supernatural Season Three DVD boxsets will come with a 1:64 scale 1967 Chevy Impala. That is cool as! It's a pity I ordered my S3 DVDs from Amazon on Wednesday and my closest Best Buy store is about 8887 kilometres away. In Hawaii.

3. YKYMWTMSW... you consider the logistics of jumping on a plane to get to the above mentioned store to get the DVDs. Hehehe! Just kiddin' ;) Although, it is kind of tempting because it would also give me the chance to meet [livejournal.com profile] munibunny which I would love to do. :)

4. Does anyone watch Kyle XY? )

5. I had my haircut last night. It's no good. It's short and I can't figure out how to dry it and my new super duper, ionic powered, shine enhancing, frizz reducing hairdryer did not help one little bit.

6. Work!bff and I took a tram into the city at lunch time. We needed to get some stuff... )

7. I'm watching Supernatural 'Bloody Mary' on Fox 8 at the minute. Out of all the Urban Legends, I think Bloody Mary scares me the most. It's not like I believe 'she' exists but if there is a reflective surface nearby I cannot bring myself to say her name once, let alone three times, without getting all cold and shivery. And if someone taunts me and pretends like they are going to say it three times *glares at work!bff* I kind of freak out. *is totally irrational*

Random Episode Observations: Sammy is just a boy in this ep, with bangs. Dean is wearing a red shirt, I thought I was watching Smallville for a second there.
Random Episode Pondering: Will we ever find out why Dean's eyes were bleeding...

8. TGIF! \O/ 'Ave a good weekend. :)

( Aug. 25th, 2008 10:32 am)
Work!bff went to the USA Foods store yesterday and bought me a present. Goldfish FTW! \O/
Mmm, breakfast...

On the topic of goldfish but this time the non-cracker real fish kind, one of the fish I'm fish-sitting is unwell. He's floating on his side near the top of the water but when I try to scoop him out he swims away. I think it's 'Kubrick' and I think he is not long for this world :(
1) I know this is early for my 'Hey, Tuesday!' post but hey, it's still Tuesday. It's just a lot earlier on a Tuesday than normal. :)

2) I didn't get a chance to post this yesterday but check out what I found on my desk when I arrived at work yesterday morning.

The Thoroughbred of Sin. He rules my desk with an iron hoof. )

3) There are a few people on my flist having a rough time at the minute. Hugs and much love to [livejournal.com profile] chasingangel82, [livejournal.com profile] bobbinrob and [livejournal.com profile] rip_67. And to [livejournal.com profile] rose_janice for being an awesome friend to the those who need cheering up and to [livejournal.com profile] ragingquiet26 just because. Team!Shortbus! FTW!
♥ ♥ ♥

4) Hugs and much love to everyone else on my flist. I know haven't been around much over the past couple of weeks and I'm not sure how much I'll be around for the next month or so. From Friday, I'm house-stting and cat-sitting for six-weeks and my internet access may be limited.
♥ ♥ ♥

5) Shiny new pics of Jensen. \O/
Laughing, unzipped hoodie wearing Jensen.
Just saying...

6) I have crispy M&Ms and it's only 10:30 in the morning. Yeah, my eating habits suck.

7) It's my nephew's birthday tomorrow. He's turning 10. We are are having a family get together on Saturday and for his cake he has requested a 'Digital Camera' cake. Not just any digital camera cake. A digital camera cake that looks like the camera he is getting for his birthday. And just so you know, my nephew is kind of pedantic. If I don't get this just right my status as 'Favourite Aunty' could be in jeopardy. Thursday night is cake decorating night. So, you know, that should be fun.

8) Happy Tuesday!

( Jun. 20th, 2008 11:39 pm)
And Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] raputathebuta! Hope you have a wonderful day!

It's Jared Eve and instead of finishing up packing and getting some much needed sleep (have I mentioned I have to be up at 3:30AM?) I'm getting distracted by Jensen Ackles on Smallville and stressing over how to pack my laptop, two cameras and a teddy bear in my carry on luggage and now I'm writing this. *sigh*

* Credit for the phrase, 'Jared Eve', goes to Work!bff. He demanded credit.

Smallville question behind the cut which could be spoiler...ish if you haven't seen it and don't want to know anything about it until you do but I am talking about what happened at least three seasons ago when Jensen was on it... )

On a different note, yesterday afternoon I went to the cafe downstairs from work to get myself a Pepsi Max. I was pleasantly surprised to hear them playing a song called "Compulsory Hero" by 1927 on the stereo.

Umm... Who or what are 1927? )

When I got home, I felt like listening to the whole song so I YouTube'd Compulsory Hero and check out whose face popped up in the search results;

Oh my goodness! A fanvid combining my favourite band from THEN and my favourite TV Show from NOW. Gotta love it when fandoms converge across the ages. :)

Hopefully I'll be able to post over the weekend from JaredNova to update y'all on what's going on in Sydney town.

( Jun. 19th, 2008 12:26 am)
Work!bff and I went for a walk at lunch time today and we made it as far as the beach at St Kilda West. It wasn't exactly the weather for the beach but it was a nice way to spend the hour. Or more accurately one hour and twenty minutes... but don't tell anyone. :)

How I spent my lunch... )
