1). Hey, Hey, It's Saturday! \O/

A little shout out there to a cheesy Australian variety show popular during the 70s, 80s and 90s. Oh, man... How I miss Ossie Ostrich and Dickie Knee and that little barbie angel thing they had for a while there.

2). Plans for today include:

• Laundry - Lots of laundry. I hate laundry.
• Shopping - Rebel Sport for a new Melbourne Storm jacket.
• Culture - Visiting the National Gallery of Victoria to see their Art Deco exhibition.
• Horror - Watching 'Boogeyman' and 'My Bloody Valentine' tonight. *makes popcorn*

3). I've been to JB HiFi twice in the past two days and ended up going a bit spazzy. (See 'Current Music' *g*) In addition to 'Dr Quinn Medicine Woman Season 1, I found a copy of the original 'My Bloody Valentine' and also stocked up my country music CD collection. (Montgomery Gentry, Toby Keith, Big & Rich, and Emerson Drive).

4). Rainbow bolted inside last night freaked the hell out by something. Perhaps I shouldn't have let her watch 'Bugs'. All those bees... )

5).Stupid internet connection keeps cutting out. Hopefully I'll get to post this before it cuts out again. I suspect I won't get much further than that. I'll try back this afternoon/evening to read my flist.

6). Happy *insert appropriate day of the week here*! (Is this getting old yet? :P)

or at least it was this morning. Turns out the weather was just taunting me because by lunchtime the sky was full of clouds and by this evening it was raining. So much for the first day of Spring. Ha!

1). I had to move desks at work today. More people are moving on to our floor so we've been shuffled around to make room for them. We didn't have to move far - just to the next 'pod' of four desks - but it has made me feel all disoriented. I'm sitting with my back to the world now. I'm sure I'll get used to it soon enough.

I've already made myself at home - Click for pics )

2). Random Advice: Don't try to download songs from iTunes via a dial-up connection. I've been trying to download Brian McFadden's Twisted and it's taking forever. 12 minutes and counting...

3). I'm watching an old episode of Bones and I have to say Bones looks pretty good as Wonder Woman. Also, besides being tall, dark and handsome, Booth and Sam Winchester have something in common; They both suffer from coulrophobia. *nods* (Is David Boreanz tall? I have no idea...)

4). Melbourne Storm lost on the weekend. )

5). 18 Sleeps til Supernatural 4x01.

And Happy Birthday, [livejournal.com profile] raputathebuta! Hope you have a wonderful day!

It's Jared Eve and instead of finishing up packing and getting some much needed sleep (have I mentioned I have to be up at 3:30AM?) I'm getting distracted by Jensen Ackles on Smallville and stressing over how to pack my laptop, two cameras and a teddy bear in my carry on luggage and now I'm writing this. *sigh*

* Credit for the phrase, 'Jared Eve', goes to Work!bff. He demanded credit.

Smallville question behind the cut which could be spoiler...ish if you haven't seen it and don't want to know anything about it until you do but I am talking about what happened at least three seasons ago when Jensen was on it... )

On a different note, yesterday afternoon I went to the cafe downstairs from work to get myself a Pepsi Max. I was pleasantly surprised to hear them playing a song called "Compulsory Hero" by 1927 on the stereo.

Umm... Who or what are 1927? )

When I got home, I felt like listening to the whole song so I YouTube'd Compulsory Hero and check out whose face popped up in the search results;

Oh my goodness! A fanvid combining my favourite band from THEN and my favourite TV Show from NOW. Gotta love it when fandoms converge across the ages. :)

Hopefully I'll be able to post over the weekend from JaredNova to update y'all on what's going on in Sydney town.

After the false start this morning with my oops!post, here's my real Pig 'n a Poke post!

1. I have fallen so behind on commenting. Sorry. :( I'm a bad LJ'er. Do you all have times when you just feel like you haven't got anything good enough to say? Well, that's me at the minute.

2. I can't work out what's up with LJ Notifications either. *sigh* The community email notifications seem to be coming through but not with the name of the Community in the title. It seems a lot of users have "...posted a new entry in !". I'm yet to find the community called !

Also, only a handful of notifications for personal journals are coming through. There are few WIP fics I'm reading, and I haven't friended the authors, relying on email tracking feature instead. If those authors use LJ Toys or something similar they are probably wondering what the hell that stalkery [livejournal.com profile] katysam is doing visiting their journal's repeatedly. I'm just lookin' for new chapters, is all!

3. The whole New Kids on the Block reunion thingy is making me kind of happy. Grandma bought a new magazine this week and the first pages I flipped open to where these:

The not-so-new New Kids on the Block... )

4. Only 9 sleeps until the new episode airs. \O/

I went to see Sweeney Todd last night. I don't want to say too much, in case people haven't seen it, but it's definitely not for the squeamish.

Johnny Depp is truly incredible. How he manages to ooze so much charm whilst portraying such a deranged character is beyond me. I admit, however, to thinking at least once, 'ooh, that was a bit Captain Jack Sparrowish.

Oh, and I was also deliriously happy to be able to play 'Spot the former-Buffy actor' in a teeny-tiny, one line, talking bit-part.

1. List your top five favorite musical artists.
2. List your top five favorite songs from each artist.
3. Tag five people to do the same or not. If you would like to do it though, knock yourself out!

My Top Five )

In honour of artist #4 on my list, I bring you another photo of Steve Carlson.

CUT: For size and semi-nakedness ;) )

I've run out of Christmas movies to watch and I need some suggestions.
Please tell me your favourite movie(s) to watch at Christmas time.

EDIT: This was supposed to contain a poll but evidently I SUCK at creating them. *facepalm*

My Supernatural Advent Calendar tells me there are only two days before Christmas Day. Yikes!

I love Christmas songs. All kinds. Happy carol-ly types. Dodgy depressing Johnny Cash types. Croony Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Bing Crosby types. Silly novelty types.

But "Christmas Time by Bryan Adams" is very close to the top of my 'Favourite Christmas Songs Of All Time' list.

1. Open your music library (iTunes, Winamp, Media Player, iPod, etc.)
2. Put it on shuffle and press play.
3. For every question, type the song that's playing. When you go to a new question, go to the next song.
4. Don't lie and try to pretend you're cool.
5. (Miss Michelle is adding this on, feel free to delete rule #5) Post a snippet of the lyrics - especially if they don't make ANY SENSE regarding what number you're entering the song for.

Here's mine:

The Soundtrack to My Life... According to iTunes )

DALE! The calendar and postcard arrived today and I love them! It was so sweet of you to send them. Thank you so much. The cheesy postcard was perfect. Please tell Ezri she did a great job picking it out. *hugs*

  1. Emma and I went to see Hairspray last Thursday. I was a little concerned during the movie trailers because they were all for kiddy films. I knew Hairspray was aimed at a youth market, but I didn't expect it to be that youthful. *L*
I haven't enjoyed a movie as much as I did Hairspray in a long, long while. .. )
I bought the soundtrack last week so I can relive some of the magic. *sigh* It's just not the same though. Why isn't the DVD out yet? *whines*

  2. Speaking of DVDs, hurry up Mr. Postman! My SPN S2 DVDs still haven't arrived. Perhaps the cargo ship hit some stormy weather.

  3. Speaking of Storms (the segues sure are working for me tonight, don't you think?), Melbourne Storm are playing the Parramatta Eels on Sunday. It's a home-town final which means we get to play in Melbourne, but not at our usual stadium. We're playing at Docklands Stadium Colonial Stadium Telstra Dome. Seriously, the stadium has it's name changed more frequently than I change my socks. Anyway, the last time we played there was was six years ago... I like Colonial but it's no Olympic Park.

  4. Another album I downloaded last week was Darren Hayes' new album, This Delicate Thing We've Made. Darren Hayes used to be half of the group 'Savage Garden'.
I've been listening to this one song called 'Casey', a fair bit.

  5. "CASEY"
    Driving in your car
    With the windows down
    And the beat up stereo
    Struggle with this town
Cuz you love to hate it
And hate it to let it go

    And we're all alone
    And so tired of being
    So don't take me home
    Cuz I feel alive
When you come and save me
    Rest of the lyrics... )

  6. I've just finished watching All Hell Breaks Loose Part 1, and I can't believe I got all teary. I hate the final scene.

  7. I was going to try to make a voice post, this morning, on the way to work, but the voice post phone number didn't work. WTF? I just tried it again and, yep, it's still broken.
Check out what was waiting on my desk when I got to work this morning:

Kane Kane Acoustic Live in London

Lisa ~ I'll bring your copy to the game on Sunday, 'kay.

Friday tomorrow. Yay!  That is all.

EDIT: There was one more thing I wanted to say: Andrew Johns, you really are a dud boy!  *roll eyes*  What a dick!
  1. Hands up if you are going to see CROWDED HOUSE in November?  *raises both hands*  I spent  full-on a week deliberating whether I want to see them live or if I really, really, really want to see them live. Thanks to their numerous TV appearances during the past week it turned out I really, really, really want to see them live. I got me a ticket for their second show in Melbourne. Whoo-hoo!

  2. Whilst looking for Crowdies tickets I noticed that The Shins are also touring Australia. Next month!

  3. Sam and Nick stayed for another couple of nights during the week. Thursday night they wanted to watch Cars which, don't get me wrong, is a totally cool movie but also a movie they can watch anytime. I wanted to share a bit of old time movie magic with them. I've tried getting them to watch The Goonies before but they really aren't that interested in it. I know! Who does not love that movie? Kids today, huh? This time I made them watch Labyrinth and they totally dug it, especially Nick. It made me all kinds of proud and happy. It's awesome that a movie made 21 years ago still looks as good and is still as entertaining as Labyrinth is today. And yep, it really was made 21 Years ago. And nope, I can't believe it either.

  1. After four days of using public transport (Grrr Argh!) this week I thought I’d treat myself and drive into work this morning. The traffic flowed well until City Road and despite the *rock music plays* sticker on the back of my car I zoomed along listening to country music. Great start to the day!

  2. Looking for country music to listen to in the car this morning highlighted a major oversight on my part. I have very little country on my MP3 player. What's doing there? Sure I have some Keith Urban, a little Dixie Chicks and a Steve Carlson album but no Garth Brooks, no Montgomery Gentry, no Toby Keith, no Billy Ray Cyrus... Looks like I've got some CD ripping to do over the weekend.

  3. Not sure where this came from but in the shower this morning I was thinking if there was a disruption to the space-time continuum and I was transported back to a previous year, what year would I like to re-visit? I decided on 2002. I liked 2002.

  4. It's been so chilly this week. Today I have four layers on in an attmpt to keep warm at the office. It's casual day, as it is every Friday, which usually means a Storm tee-shirt and jacket. However, today I decided to skip the Storm tee and went with my happy shirt instead - my green "No Chick Flick Moments". How can I not be happy wearing Dean & Sammy?

  5. After an extremely bad air day yesterday my hair actually cooperated with me this morning. Awesome.

  6. Cheese Supreme Doritos really are the best snack food.

  7. Happy Friday y'all. Tomorrow it's the weekend!
